Good product for my elderly dog
My elderly dog has mild kidney dysfunction and this medication alleviates her symptoms of excessive thirst and frequent urination. It's expensive and needs to be kept refrigerated. Buying it online through Vet RX is much more economical than buying it at the Vet's. I was concerned about shipping something that needs to be kept cold. Vet RX did an excellent job and I bought 90 days worth at a time and will continue to do so as long as needed.

Would not recommend
I recommend not buying this product. The capsule is to big for a cat. It is highly recommended not breaking the capsule open and putting on your cats food. This medication needs to be ingested whole.
I tried putting this capsule in a pill pocket, which did not work. My cat broke the capsule open in her mouth. Maybe 45 minutes to an hour later, my cat was walking and completely lost her balance and just fell on her side 2 different times. My cat became very fatigued and unresponsive.
I tried every way with giving my cat this capsule, and all were unsuccessful. The only part that concerns is the above statement with my cat becoming fatigued, unresponsive, and just falling over 2 different times. I saw in my cats eye she was not good. I cannot and will not use this product.
I am disappointed in the fact that nothing is described as possible side effects. If those were stated, I would not have purchased or tried this product.

This medication helped my cat

He is turning 17 years on next Jan and this products was the first supplement that was recommended by his vet when my cat was diagnosed kidney disease. He's been taking Azodyl for two years now and his kidney values are pretty stable and similar to the values from two years ago. I think Azodyl is helping to maintain his kidney values stable. -

Kidney function improved.
From UndisclosedComments about Azodyl Small Capsules, 90 ctAfter reading the other reviews I thought Azodyl was worth a try. My 15 year old miniature schnauzer's kidney function had declined greatly when I had her checked at the vet. She'd been much more lethargic, wouldn't eat and was vomiting when she did eat. Her vet said I could try Azodyl although she wasn't sure it would help. When I took her back last week for labs about a month after starting it, she'd regained a little weight and her labs were greatly improved. Her vet was amazed at the huge improvement (as was I) and really had no explanation for it except that she was better hydrated now. She said she's going to research it a bit more and may consider giving it to her dog who has some decreased kidney function. My dog still has some off days, but overall she's back to her energetic self and eating much better. Definitely worth a try if your dog has decreased kidney function.-

i left the azodyl out overnight, is it ok, it was about 69 degrees in the house. ?

In another question earlier on the very direct answer stated that "According to the manufacturer Azodyl can remain at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, with no effect on the expiration date." However, replies to this and other questions like it seem to indicate that it's more sensitive. Is it 2 weeks at room temp or overnight at 69 degrees?

Sheryl, The manufacturer does recommend that the product be stored under refrigeration to maintain the viability of the active beneficial bacteria. The manufacturer has information saying that the product will okay given the short duration of time that it was out of the refrigerator and in the temperature range described. How does azodyl supplement support renal functions in cats? I thought probiotic supplement was usually given to replenish intestinal flora depleted by the administration of antibiotics.?
