No more respiratory allergy symptoms
From UndisclosedComments about Cetirizine HCl 5mg, 100 TabletsMy 7-lb chihuahua has allergies that affect her respiratory system, and after a couple of weeks on cetirizine she is feeling much better! I was so glad to find these 5 mg tablets. We cut them into quarters. It would be a little easier to cut the tablets if they were round, but the oval shape works okay. -

Mr. Willoughby is so. much. happier.
From UndisclosedComments about Cetirizine HCl 5mg, 100 TabletsMy vet prescribed human Zyrtec for Mr. Willoughby. However, the only available varieties in the dose he needed were either childrens' citrus- or bubble gum-flavored—neither of which sounded like something a cat would tolerate. I was so excited to find a veterinary dose in a TINY little pill that doesn't take too much effort to get down. Plus, it was MUCH less expensive, making it a great long-term solution for Mr. Willoughby's allergies. -

How can 2 tablets of cetirizine 10 mg be safe for a dog when human consumption is limited to 1 tablet daily?
-
Cetirizine is a human-labeled medication that may be used in an extra-label manner for pets, under the direction and guidance of a veterinarian. As a pet pharmacy, we only dispense this medication for use in animals. When used for dogs, cetirizine is dosed based on the dog's weight (mg/kg). Depending on your dog’s weight, more than one tablet may be needed to reach the appropriate dose. In humans, cetirizine is not dosed by weight. Please consult your veterinarian regarding any further questions or concerns regarding this medication in your dog.

-
The extra label use of human medication in animals may only be directed by your dog’s veterinarian who has an existing relationship with your pet. A pharmacist or pharmacy is not legally able to provide recommendations or dosing information on the extra label use of medications without the prior approval or direction of a veterinarian. Speak to your veterinarian about this issue and they will be able to determine if cetirizine hcl would be recommended for your dog.
