Be careful if your dog is allergic to chicken!
I previously made a review that this product was perfect for my pup with IBD. It was absolutely easy to give her, she loved it and ate it willingly. However, after about a week of use, she had SEVERE diarrhea. The worse we've ever seen. After eliminating everything else but her kibble for a week and still having no response, we decided to eliminate this. She has a severe chicken allergy. This containing hydrolyzed chicken, supposedly her body should not detect it. Well it did. Within 2 days of eliminating the cobalequin, her BMs went back to normal. After doing some research, 40% of dogs with a chicken allergy still detect hydrolyzed chicken. So just be aware of that. Otherwise, great product.

Q & A
-
Do you make this product without chicken? My German Shepard has a severe chicken allergy and I'm hesitant to give him this.?
-
we believe my dog is allergic to chicken as well. Has caused her IBD to flare-up. Our vet said the chicken is hydrolyzed so it should not be an issue. Just thought I'd share :)

When my order arrived it was very hot and the bottle says it is to be stored in a cool area out of direct sunlight. Why didn't you put in a cool pack? My dog has to have this medicine since he has a low cobalamin level. Please let me know since the bottle was hot, whether it will still be effective.?
-
According to manufacturer recommendations, Cobalequin is packaged appropriately in a sealed bottle protected from direct sunlight. The active ingredients cyanocobalamin and 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) are stable to heat (approximately 60-90 degrees Fahrenheit). If there are concerns about heat conditions in the future, we would suggest shipping to a different address where someone will be able to secure the product in a timely manner.

I have a client with a finicky cat that wants to know what size the B12 tablets are ??
-
The tablets are smaller, however we cannot give you an exact measurement for the tablet. If the patient is concerned with the tablets being too large for ingestion by her cat, the tablets can also be crumbled or crushed then sprinkled onto food.
Verified Answer -
They are about the size of an aspirin, but dissolve quickly in moist food.

Is the chicken flavor in the Cobalequin sourced from chicken protein? Is there any protein in this chewable. what are the other ingredients in the chewable small cat formula. Please reply soonest.?
-
The hydrolyzed chicken flavor in this medication is sourced from a natural chicken product which would contain protein. However according to the manufacturer, due to the hydrolyzation process, most pet's bodies should not recognize the flavor as a protein and it should not be an issue for protein sensitive pets. Within each chewable tablet for the cats and small dogs (< 22 lbs) Cobalequin medication there is 250 ug of Cyanocobalamin and 50 ug of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF). Inactive ingredients present include hydrolyzed chicken flavor, microcrystalline cellulose, and silicon dioxide. None of which would contain protein. Please contact your veterinarian to determine if this product is appropriate for your cat or dog.
