From UndisclosedComments about Meloxicam (Generic)Has added a couple years of more comfort for my stiff goldendoodle. We had tried everything and nothing was working any more for her arthritis. Huge difference when we started this. Need a smaller dose pill. -

From undisclosedComments about Meloxicam (Generic)I use this product to help with my GSD's severe hip problems. It seems to be one of the only things that help her. She definitely moves easier when on this medication. -
Made a huge difference
From undisclosedComments about Meloxicam (Generic)My old girl (13 yo golden) was still super painful with her pain control regimen. After discussing the risk vs benefit with her vet we decided to try Meloxicam and after 1 week the difference is huge. She is happy and playful again. -

Keeps My Nine Year Old Lab Going
From Asheville, NC, USAComments about Meloxicam (Generic)My vet prescribed the Meloxicam for my 9 yr old lab's arthritis pain. The xrays showed severe bone deterioration. She was limping, having a hard time going up and down the stairs, and having a hard time jumping into the back of my car, but with the medicine, she's like her young self again. We hike about 3-5 miles a day in the mountains, and she couldn't do it w/o her medicine. Also, Vetrx sells it 75% cheaper than my vets office.-

Easy, quick service!
From South Windsor, CT, USAComments about Meloxicam (Generic)My vet suggested checking online for pricing on Meloxicam vs Rimadyl (which we had been getting from the vet) for our dog. Meloxicam was a big saving and worked just as well for our aging Newfie. The processing of the order was easy with quick delivery. I placed the order online and called the vet to let them know. Their response was "We place orders through vetrxdirect all the time." That same day them confirmed the order it was shipped out! Will definitely use vetrxdirect again. -
Effective and affordable
From UndisclosedComments about Meloxicam (Generic)Using this for an older Collie who was having trouble moving around due to stiffness in joints. Other dog specific NSAID and the liquid meloxicam from the vet were too expensive for daily use. Was able to try half a pill of this generic meloxicam, and our dog is up and moving again within a week! He is also taking it along with some liquid glucosamine on his food each day.

Q & A

Our senior dog takes the liquid metacam 1.5 ml. We measure the syringe at 40 for her dose which seems to work great in her response to this medication. We would like to try the pill version of this. What dose would be appropriate??
-
The syringe for the Metacam (brand name product of meloxicam) suspension 1.5mg/mL is designed to give 0.05mg of meloxicam per pound indicated on the syringe. For example, if your dog is getting a 40-pound dose of the Metacam suspension this contains around 2 mg of meloxicam per 40-pound dose. Meloxicam tablets come as a 7.5mg and 15mg strength. So 2 mg is roughly ¼ tablet of the 7.5mg dose. Tablets may be an option for your pet but the liquid dosage form (i.e. Metacam) has the ability to give an accurate dose and to avoid exceeding the recommended daily dose for your pet. Please consult your veterinarian to determine the appropriate treatment for your pet. Thank you, VetRxDirect

My dog will only need a dose of 3.2mg per day. Can the 7.5mg tablets be broken in half? Thanks?
-
Lynn, While our current pills are not scored, we successfully halved the tablets simply by breaking with our fingers. A pill splitter may make this process easier and more consistent. Thank you, VetRxDirect

How many pills come in a bottle? Do you charge per each tablet or the bottle? Do we need a prescription to order??
-
Ashley, Meloxicam tablets are a prescription pet med and require authorization from your pet's veterinarian before dispensing. Typically, this authorization is obtained by fax sent from our pharmacy to your pet's veterinarian after you have had your pet examined and after you have placed an online order from this page. Thank you, VetRxDirect

My Doberman is 110 pounds. How much can she take daily of this 7.5 mg. she has been on oral, but too expensive and only lasts a few days.?
-
Patti, We presume your Doberman is on oral liquid Metacam suspension which has the same active ingredient as the fixed strength tablet meloxicam. Meloxicam will be less expensive than the Metacam suspension and may be an appropriate choice. Meloxicam tablets are usually dosed just once daily for dogs and your dog's veterinarian will prescribe the starting dose size based on what is best for your Doberman's condition. We hope this information helps, VetRxDirect

Please advise on the suitability of using Meloxicam 7.5 mg tablets in treating a canine of @ 155 pounds post-biopsy for post-surgical pain/inflammation and the correct dosage. Would the liquid form of meloxicam (Metacam) be a safer choice? Thank you.?
-
Linda, The liquid meloxicam (Metacam) provides greater flexibility in dosing based on the current weight of your pet. A syringe included in the Metacam package provides dosing increments based on the animal's weight in pounds. Both the tablets and the liquid use the same active ingredient, meloxicam. Standard dosing for Metacam oral suspension is 0.045mg per pound or 0.1mg per kilogram once daily, however, your veterinarian will determine the appropriate dose for your dog and if the fixed strength tablets would be appropriate. Thank you, VetRxDirect
