The Only Method That Would Potentially Save My Grandkitty
From UndisclosedComments about Methimazole Suspension (Compounded) (Chicken) 5mg/ml, 60mlI picked Vet RX Direct because they could compound my grandkitty's hyperthyroidism medication into a flavored liquid. My girl is virtually impossible to sneak something by-- she can smell hidden medicine from 3 ft. away! So, I hide the liquid medicine in sardine water with just a bite of sardines and she's taking it! Thank you, Vet RX -- I wouldn't have been able to treat her at all without your help!!! :-)-

Great product, works well!
From Knoxville TNComments about Methimazole Suspension (Compounded)Cleo easily takes this medicine with no trouble at all. I have tried both flavored and unflavored, and the unflavored works best when mixed with some wet food or baby food. This product works as Cleo's thyroid has stabilized. -

Medicine is easy to give to my cat!
From UndisclosedComments about Methimazole Suspension (Compounded) (Fish) 10mg/ml, 60mlThis medicine has made a huge difference in my cat's quality of life since her diagnosis of Hyperthyroidism a few years ago. I just add the liquid on top of her wet food 2x/day and she doesn't even notice it. The best part is I don't have to struggle with giving her pills or putting a cream in her ears.-
Happy Lily!

Q & A
-
Can this compound be added to food or is it only to be rubbed on the cat's ears? My cat needs less than 1 tablet (2.5 mg) and more than 1/2 tablet twice a day. I can't seem to cut the tablets evenly.?
-
The Methimazole suspension is a liquid and is given orally where as the Methimazole transdermal gel is rubbed on the cat's ears. If you wanted to give it orally with food, you would need to get the suspension. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Do you make a compounded tuna flavored chewable tablet of Methimazole 2,5 or 5mg??
-
Yvonne, We do not compound chewable tablets, but we do have a compounded suspension that is available in a fish flavor, if that would work. Thank you, VetRxDirect

just curious how much is an avg dose per day, just so I can see if is within range to switch. I see 30 ml is 7.99 but how many doses is that for, 1 month? I understand you cant say for sure, just an avg?
-
It depends on the dosage given by your veterinarian. It differs with every patient so it is difficult to say what an average dose would be. If you give 1 milliliter a day, then it would be a 30 day supply but if you are giving 5 milliliters a day, it would only be a 6 day supply. You should check with your veterinarian to see what dosage you would be giving a day so you can more accurately tell how long a 30 ml bottle would last for you. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I inadvertantly put the bottle in the cupboard rather than the refrigerator for 12 hours. Can I stil use as the instructions say that the med should be refrigerated.?
-
Jeanie, None of our compounded suspensions require refrigeration. This can vary from pharmacy to pharmacy. You should follow the instructions on any medication bottle, and for concerns directly related to the storage and use of specific medications, contact the pharmacy where the medication was compounded. Thank you, VetRxDirect
