What is Porus One for Cats by Dechra?
- Porus One is used to support kidney health in your cat.
- Porus One binds protein digestion byproducts in the intestines where they are excreted in the feces.
Why is Porus One Used for Cats?
- After protein is metabolized, the uremic toxin precursors indole and p-cresol are produced and normally excreted by the kidneys.

Proven Effective
We have male cat that is just about 14 years old. He's lived a great life with very little health issues. A few months ago, we brought him in for routine yearly check and decided to do bloodwork as well since he is aging, losing a bit of weight and we could see noticeably slowing down. The results came back, and like many cats his age had indicators of signs of a deteriorating kidney function. We spoke with our vet and agreed to do a combination (KD \ Renal care) food and holistic approach to help slow down the progression. As most cat guardians know you don't reverse kidney failure, you only do your best to slow it down as much as possible. It has been a few months since being on the diet and Porus One. He's put a bit of the weight back on his energy is back to when he was younger. He has taken this with no issue in the morning with breakfast. Highly recommend for anyone looking to not just take medication. We'll continue to give as long as he accepts this with food. We are sure this helped give our beloved "big fuzzy guy" much relief!! I certainly recommend to any who does research, speaks with vet and confirms this is a worthwhile approach.

Very Hopeful
My senior girl, Bella, has chronic kidney disease. After 4 years at early stage, she's beginning to creep into Stage 2 of CKD. Porous One is often mentioned in the Feline Chronic Kidney Disease FB group and many of the cat parents say their kitties improve after use. Bella has only been on the Porous One for less than a week but I'm noticing a shift in her. She's becoming more active again and her grooming routine has picked once again. I'm grateful this product is available.

When my cat developed renal issues along with hyperthyroidism again (His I-131 treatment in 2016 lasted seven and a half years.), Porus One became essential for him. According to their Facebook- Porus One, if you joined them, which I joined, there are pet parents that gave these to their dogs too. You may ask them question and they respond right away. Porus One helped my cat's ckd to be stabilized. Her vet told me that whatever I am doing, continue it as it is helping my cat. I give this together with Rehmania 6.

Since this is carbon-based and to be given away from medications presumably to avoid absorbing it, does Porus One also absorb the nutrients in cat food or reduce the vitamins and minerals of the food? If not, why not??

According to the manufacturer, if your cat takes oral medications, administer Porus One two hours after administering those medications. Porus One does not absorb vitamins, minerals, and nutrients from the diet and is intended to be administered directly with food. Porus One has precisely measured pores on the surface of the Renaltec® carbon spheres. These pores are highly selective to allow the precursors of uraemic toxins to enter the inner channel system, but not important nutritional elements. Vitamins, vital substances, and cells cannot pass through into the carbon spheres because they are too big.

No, it will NOT absorb the other nutrients or minerals, because the pores of toxins are too small, so only toxins will be absorbed by the Porus One to excrete in the stools. You need to give 2 hours apart the Porus One from all the supplements. I have been using this for my cat since Nov. 2020 (my brother in UK) shipped them to me, and since then-my cat's creatinine stayed at 2.7 stable ckd. I am so thankful, it is now available in US. Porus One is tasteless and odorless, and is administered to cats once daily. Porus One is composed of small, solid spheres. Porus One can be given with any standard food your cat likes, but also with any kind of special diet. If your cat eats dry food only, you may offer Porus One in a very small amount of moist food or in a cat-paste.
