Can't do without Previcox
From Wisconsin, USAComments about Previcox (firocoxib) Chewable TabletsOnce a day Previcox keeps my old dog comfortable and happy. I'm pleased with on well it works on pain. Manages pain of arthritis
From State College, PA, USAComments about Previcox (firocoxib) Chewable TabletsMy 12 year old golden retriever has arthritis, front and back legs and joints. She has been on pain management medication and supplements for some time, the last year it has been Previcox and now she takes a higher dose than when she started on it. She does well with this medication, has a little less interest in eating as a side affect, but still eventually eats her meals so it isn't bad. She is still old and arthritic, but more comfortable with the meds than without. -
Previcox has made a huge improvement
From San Juan Islands, WAComments about Previcox (firocoxib) Chewable TabletsWe had tried rimadyl and metacam with littlw success and adverse reations to the medicine. Previcox has brought positive changes to our ten year old golden retreiver's mobility, liveliliness and quality of life. Her arthritis seems not to give her as much pain and stiffness. My dog had a cortisone shot 2 weeks ago...is it safe to give herPrevicox yet!! or if not when to resume???
-
Cortisone is a short acting glucocorticoid with half-life between 8 and 12 hours for a 25 mg dose. Based on this dose equivalence and half-life, it will take less than a week for the drug to be fully cleared from the body. However, since we don't have information about the dose of cortisone the dog received, it is best to ask your dog's veterinarian about restarting Previcox.
