This product has given my Bear a second chance at life. He is now jumping up on our bed once again, and lately has even been jumping down off the bed on his own. His bloodwork is looking good, and I will have it checked every 6 months to play it safe. Also give Cosequin DS sprinkled on moist food, one capsule a day helps keep the pain away. I am happy that I gave this Rx a chance as my poor guy at 7 years was really hurting. A year later and I'm a believer!!! He would not have improved without it. -

After 1 day on Rimadyl, he is almost his old self. He went to the shore with us and was able to handle the steps with very little effort. If your dog is suffering with arthritis you definitely want to try this drug.

Are they an over the counter drug that I can buy that will help with pain and swelling in my Bulldog similar to caroprfen?

Some traditional over-the-counter pain medications such as Tylenol may be used in dogs, but only under the direction and guidance of a veterinarian. It is not recommended to give any over-the-counter medications to your dog without first consulting with your veterinarian as they have the most updated health history of your dog and will be able to better recommend a dose.

Tramadol is an opioid, narcotic-like pain reliever that is used in the management of moderate to severe pain; such as post-surgical pain and severe arthritis. Tramadol is a human-labeled drug that is classified as a controlled substance due to it's potential for abuse. Rimadyl contains carprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), commonly used in the treatment of osteoarthritis and postoperative pain in dogs. Carprofen differs from tramadol because it is a non-narcotic medication that treats pain by reducing inflammation. Mich, The most common side effects reported with Rimadyl in dogs are vomiting, diarrhea, and decreased appetite. Very rarely, Rimadyl can cause stomach ulcers and problems with liver function. Your veterinarian may wish to perform liver tests if your pet is on the medication longer than a few weeks.
