This really works!
I bought one of these for one of my rescued Bulldogs, Bozz. He had brain cancer which would occasionally cause him to have seizures and couldn't take Comfortis. I tried this collar on him and it really worked! We have a huge flea problem here in the Deep South. We don't have a tick problem where I live. Seresto collar worked great on Bozz until he went to the Bridge. Sunshine is now wearing it and I love it! We will be getting one for each of our dogs. It works for eight months and I have not seen a flea on Sunshine and never saw one on Bozz.

Sizing confusing
This product is amazing, however, they should provide a medium. My dog is right at 20 lbs (2 over the recommended weight for small). She is old, so the large actually seems a bit much. Anyway, I mistakenly ordered a small thinking it was a medium. I discovered the error after I had opened the container. I'm now stuck with the wrong dosage. I just hope it works efficiently.

Q & A

Are there any contraindication for use of Seresto, for example with certain meds? I understand that Seresto is probably considered topical, but before I puchase it, I'd like to know if I should be concerned about using on my dog who is on fluoxatine.?
-
Seresto contains two insecticides imidacloprid and flumethrin to prevent and treat flea and tick infections and may reduce the risk of tapeworm infections. The collar works by slowly releasing the two insecticides over a period of 8 months for the treatment and prevention of flea and tick infestations. The ingredients in Seresto bind to the natural oils of the skin and hair where they remain and are not absorbed. According to the manufacturer, there are currently no contraindications with prescription medications and Seresto. Thank you, VetRxDirect

is the dosage in the small less then the large? or is the only difference in the size of the collar??
-
The percentages of the active ingredients in each size collar is the same (4.5% flumethrin and 10% imidacloprid) however the percentages are based on the weight of the collar, so the larger collar will have more medication (the small collar is 12.5 grams and the large collar is 45 grams). The manufacturer recommends choosing the appropriate collar for your dog based on the dog's weight, to ensure proper flea and tick coverage. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I put the collars on my dogs Nov 6th 2013, all 5 of my dogs have just started scratching this week. I thought this collar was supposed to last 8 months??

Any time a pet owner feels that a product is not performing to the standards expected, we encourage pet owners to contact customer service directly. We can provide the best and most immediate assistance in instances such as these. We can be reached 9 am to 5 pm central time, Monday through Friday, and from 9 am to 12 noon on Saturdays at 866-761-6578, or you can email us any time at [email protected]. In particular to your Seresto concerns, the manufacturer had some additional information regarding the effectiveness of the collars. If you are actually seeing fleas (meaning the itching is not caused by environmental allergies which are increasingly common at this time of year) then a decreased effectiveness could be caused by a couple of things. Repeated water exposure (more often than once a month) can decrease the effectiveness of the collars to five months. There are also areas of the country known to have higher flea concentrations, particularly the Southeast and California. These higher flea concentrations can be difficult for any collar to fight on their own, and Seresto can be complemented with Advantage II. If none of these exceptions apply in your case, the manufacturer may need to be contacted directly. We can help point you in the right direction, if this is needed.. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I have 5 cats all of which are always in our faces or being handled by our kids. How will the collar effect that? Is it safe for kids to be around? This makes me a little nervous.?
-
Lisa, The manufacturer states the collar should be kept out of reach of children and to not let children play with the collar. The collar should avoid contact with eyes, skin, or clothing. Ideally, the collar should not be touched unless for application, adjustment, or removal purposes. If you or your children come in contact with the collar make sure to wash hands thoroughly with soap and water. For further information or recommendations on alternate flea and tick preventives please contact your cats' veterinarian. Thank you, VetRxDirect

what are the side affects for a large dog,?
-
Gina, There have been very few side effects noted with the use of Seresto. Listed observations have included slight itching, primarily due to animals not used to wearing collars for the first couple of days after fitting. Mild skin reactions and slight hair loss due to the collar rubbing against the skin and fur, usually within the first couple of weeks may be seen. These will usually subside without the removal of the collar. The manufacturer recommends not to attach a leash to Seresto or the collar may break. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I have a108 lb great pyrenee mix dog. Will the collar be large enough and effective enough on a dog that size? Thanks?
-
Lainey, The large dog Seresto collar is approximately 28 1/3 inches long. The small dog and cat collar is 14 inches long. As long as the collar fits around the neck, it should prove to be efficacious on dogs of any weight. Working like a “topical” product, it really is based more on surface area than body weight. We have a customer with a 140lbs Lab and the large dog Seresto collar fits him perfectly. Thus far it has performed perfectly! Thank you, VetRxDirect
