Great product for dogs with noise induced anxiety!
We have a Lhasa who's terrified of thunder and fireworks. We have tried giving her Melatonin as well as have her wear the Thundershirt but after a while she would get accustomed to it and her anxiety would return. We gave her the amount of Sileo prescribed by her veterinarian and instead of shaking like a leaf like she normally would, she was calm and went to sleep comfortably. We've given this ahead of time when we knew a storm was coming (as well as on NYE) and given it once the storm was already over us. In both cases it worked in keeping her calm and reducing her noise induced anxiety to almost zero. We did not notice any adverse reactions to this product.

Ok for sileo
I have a 13 yr old lab that any of the usual meds have had disappointing results. The fireworks were quieter this year but my neighbor had illegals. It took a second dose to get him yo sleep plus a little extra. With his size that was it.i expected better results

Works for thunderstorms and fireworks
From undisclosedComments about Sileo (dexmedetomidine) Oromucosal GelHad gotten this from my vet in the past, but they don't always stock it. My vet recommended VetRx direct and wrote a prescription. So easy. This works better than anything else the vet had prescribed. It's quick acting (read instructions carefully) and calms my dog during storms and firecracker season. Be sure to give proper dosage and pay attention to the # of spaces on syringe. Also be sure to wear gloves (you can buy a box of 10 or so at most discount stores. Do not give more than dog's weight calls for.If you give too much, don't panic, call your vet. -
Works amazingly on overly anxious dogs and fireworks!
From undisclosedComments about Sileo (dexmedetomidine) Oromucosal GelMy dog is overly anxious with fireworks and storms to the point where even the two pills my vet has prescribed along with a dark room and a loud tv still has him pacing, shaking and drooling. This has helped tremendously. I still give him one pill early in the morning to mellow him out while the noise is low and start giving him this before I expect noise to start and he no longer runs from closet to closet. He still notices the noise and reacts slightly but it's not nearly as heartbreaking as when he's terrified and running every which way. I will continue to buy this for any loud holiday. Thank you!!! -

I would buy this product again since I prefer it to pills.
From undisclosedComments about Sileo (dexmedetomidine) Oromucosal GelThis product works well to calm my dog down during a thunderstorm which are very frequent here in Florida. They should also include rubber gloves since you shouldn't put the product on your finger. -
Sileo in storms
From FLComments about Sileo (dexmedetomidine) Oromucosal GelWe use a Thunder Shirt on our Beagle during thunder storms, lightening, or fireworks (gun fire in the neighborhood, too!). The Thunder Shirt helps, but with prolonged storms, she starts hyperventilating and really looks miserable. Sileo literally works in minutes. We use the smallest dose and it works within about 10-15 minutes. She's not a zombie nor does she have difficulty with her gait. We've never tried a second dose, but would not hesitation if the first wore off before the storm stopped. -

It says Sileo is to help with noise. My vet mentioned Sileo to me to help with my dog's anxiety when he needs to be in the car. His anxiety is caused by being in the car (even if the car isn't running), not noise from the car ride/traffic. Is Sileo likely to help for this or was I guided to a medicine that won't help??
-
Sileo is FDA approved for the treatment of noise aversion in dogs. Under the direction and guidance of a veterinarian, Sileo is also used extra-label or off-label to reduce fear and anxiety during veterinary examinations. It contains the active ingredient Dexmedetomidine that works as a sedative and pain reliever. If your dog is still showing signs of anxiety 2-3 hours after administration then please speak with your veterinarian regarding additional doses and/or an alternative product.

Why does the medication need to be thrown away 4 weeks after opening the syringe??
-
The manufacturer of Sileo for Dogs lists the beyond-use date as 4 weeks after the syringe is opened due to stability and sterility concerns for the medication after that time. Beyond 4 weeks, the manufacturer cannot guarantee the medication will be effective or uncontaminated by bacteria and other microbes.

I have a dog who takes phenobarbital for seizures, I need an additional medication I can give him for fireworks/storms. Can this be taken with the phenobarbital??
-
According to Plumb’s Veterinary Drugs, Sileo should be used with caution in animals that have or are prone to developing seizures. The active ingredient in Sileo, Dexmedetomidine, was shown to lower the seizure threshold in animal studies. In combination, a dose reduction of both Phenobarbital and Sileo may be needed due to the potential additive effects of these medications combined. Please contact your Veterinarian to see if Sileo is safe for your dog's specific situation.

I used the correct dosage per the chart for my dog (4 dots) and administered it correctly but I saw no change in her during an event with very loud noises. Her weight is a little more than in the middle range for 4 dots and my question is, will giving her 5 dots help her better but still not make her drowsy? This is an event she participates in.?
-
Would like more details on how is it administered. Thank you.?

I purchased two tubes of silo gel for my dog the insert says it's supposed to be a clear or white Crystaline in color and both tubes or green color gel is this product so good thank you?
-
The products you received are the correct color. Sileo Gel is is a teal-green translucent color. The white, crystalline substance referred to in the insert is the active ingredient, dexmedetomidine, which is dissolved in the green-teal gel for administration.
