So far, this is working in giving my cat a pill
I picked this because I need a hypoallergenic formula pill pocket for giving my cat a pill. I would give it five stars if it weren't for the following reasons.
It really should come in individually wrapped rather than wrapped in pairs. Most often you give your pet a pill once a day and I have found that my cat is not as likely to eat it if I leave it unwrapped for one day not being in it original individual wrapper.. I've tried using a small Ziploc bag to keep it ftesh, but that doesn't seem to help.
Even though I am very grateful in finding an option in a pill pocket to give my cat a pill, he's not really excited about eating it. I need to put it in front of him three or four times and take up his other food, but he will eventually eat it so far. This has only been day three.

Perfect pill coating for cats on special diets
From UndisclosedComments about Tricky Treats Allergy, Grilled Duck Flavor, 30ctMy cat used to love pill pockets, but was put on a hydrolyzed diet for health issues and wasn't allowed to eat them any more. I had no idea there was any kind of hydrolyzed protein pill coater!! He loves them and now it's easy to pill him again, thank goodness. It only takes a small amount to coat a cat-sized pill; each pocket can be broken up and used for many pills and each pocket comes individually wrapped, so one bag should last a long time.-
Brimley likes to be hand-fed his (tricky treats) pills now.

Q & A

My cat has been diagnosed with IBD, are these safe for this type of diagnosis. We were using the salmon flavored greenies pill pockets but our vet strongly recommended against this. But we need something that is not going to inflame his esophagus more. And I am afraid a pill shooter might do just that.?
-
According to the manufacturer, Tricky Treats are formulated to be soft and chewy to help make them easier to swallow. It is recommended that you speak with your veterinarian regarding the use of Tricky treats prior to giving it to your cat. They will be able to determine if the ingredients are appropriate or not as they have the full health history for your cat.

My pup needs four medications in the morning and four at night. He can't afford 176 calories a day in pill hiders. He is only 12 pounds, and I watch his diet. Is it possible to squeeze a couple pills into one tricky treat? He takes two 1/4 tablets and 2 capsules.?
-
Yes, you can attempt to fit multiple tablets/capsules into one treat as long as the treat is still able to conceal the medications. Each treat is 17 calories.

Are the chicken flavor treats also hypoallergenic? I would think so from the ingredients list, but only the roasted duck are designated as "allergy." Could you please confirm??
-
In both the Tricky Treats duck and chicken formulas, the animal proteins have been hydrolyzed, and they do not contain corn, wheat, or soy. Hydrolysis is a process that uses water to chemically break proteins into pieces that are so small that the immune system no longer reacts to them. Duck is considered a “novel” protein because it is not a common protein used in pet food diets, therefore, duck is not considered a common allergen for dogs and cats. If your pet has a specific food allergy, please consult with your veterinarian before using a new treat.

Do the roasted chicken tricky treats have a smoke flavor like the grilled duck? My cats wouldn't touch the duck flavor and they will eat anything. I'd like to try the chicken if it has a blander taste.?
-
There is no specific mention of a smoked flavor in the chicken Tricky Treats package insert. There is also no comparison between the grilled duck and roasted chicken flavoring. According to the manufacturer, cats tend to prefer the chicken flavor.

-
how do I get half of a Denemarin pill into a tricky treat??
-
The manufacturer of Tricky Treats recommends hiding medications by first pushing the tablet into the treat. Then squeeze the treat to completely cover the tablet with the treat and lastly feed to your pet. The manufacturer recommends not using the same hand that handled the medication to handle the treat to avoid transferring the medication order or taste to the outside of the Tricky Treat where pets may detect them. Please consult your veterinarian regarding any further questions or concerns regarding this product.

-
Why can't you handle the treats with the same hand as the medication??
-
The manufacturer recommends not touching Tricky Treats with the same hand that handles the medication to avoid the transfer of medicinal odor or taste to the outside of the Tricky Treat where pets may detect them. Handling the medication and Tricky Treat in separate hands ensures the medication is fully concealed from pets.
