Manufacturer's suggested use: Administer once daily, either whole or opened at meal time. Follow instructions provided by your veterinarian.
Zylkene, 75mg: For dogs and cats 10 lbs and under, give 1 capsule daily. For dogs and cats 11 to 22 lbs, give 2 capsules daily.
Zylkene, 225mg: For cats 22 to 32 lbs, give 1 capsule daily or give as recommended by your veterinarian. For dogs 22 to 32 lbs, give 1 capsule daily. For dogs 33 to 65 lbs, give 2 capsules daily.
Zylkene 450mg: For dogs 33 to 65 lbs, give 1 capsule daily. For dogs 66 to 132 lbs, give 2 capsules daily.

He's 5 years old and three times her size and he chases her. At the suggestion of the behaviorist, I started both of them on Anxitane, but I also started giving Stella Zylkene. Since she started the Zylkene, she is much more relaxed and even braver. The Zylkene hasn't cured all of her skittishness, but it's nice to see her more relaxed.-

From UndisclosedComments about Zylkene 75mg, 120 CapsulesI have one very high-strung cat and one who is less anxious. My vet recommended Zylkene for my high-strung cat prior to bringing him in for veterinary visits. She also thought it might help him stop peeing outside of his litter box when he was upset with us for being out-of-town. I put the cat on Zylkene when we went away for a long weekend in May (for the first time in over a year), and my catsitter noted that the cat seemed much calmer! In addition, he regularly used his litter box. Therefore, I asked my vet about putting both cats on Zylkene during the six-week bathroom remodel that we are currently undergoing in our small house. She said it is okay to have the cats on Zylkene longterm, so I put both of my cats on the Zylkene supplement. Although they are upset with all of the noise and comings and goings, they are not panicky. Zylkene seems to have no taste, so I just empty the capsules into their food and they are happy to eat it. In addition we don't notice much change in the cats' behaviors. They aren't groggy or disoriented like on some sedatives. The calming effect is subtle, but I do think there is one. Note that you need to start the Zylkene 5-7 days before a stressful event.-

I also use just this mixed into their breakfast wet food. I have a spayed female cat that occasionally does urine marking. I'm hoping it helps. The cats don't seem to notice it in their wet food. -

With this med. do you need to start it several days before a dog goes into the show ring or just that day. The dog weighs 60 lbs.?
