Q & A

Are there any issues giving this to cats in combination with Prednisone??
-
Zymox Otic Enzymatic Solution is an ear drop that works locally to keep your cat's ears clean. Since Zymox works at the site of application it will not have effects throughout the body and should not interact with prednisone. It is recommended that you speak with your veterinarian if you have further questions regarding the use of Zymox Otic with prednisone.

What does the package insert mean when it says, "Apply once a day for 7 days, 14 days for chronic infections."??
-
This is an over-the-counter cleaning agent that is used to aid in the prevention of ear infections caused by bacteria and yeast. This product is not an antibiotic and is not meant to take the place of a treatment prescribed by a veterinarian. The number of days this medication is to be used depends on the type and severity of infection. The manufacturer recommends for infections that clear up quickly, the medication can be used once every day for 7 days. If the infection persists and is not fully healed, the medication is safe to use for another 7 days(14 days total). Please speak to your veterinarian to determine if Zymox Otic without hydrocortisone should be used for your pets situation.

We are using this product from you. WHEN do we get to clean the black debris out of our dogs ears? ?
-
Kaetie, According to the package insert you should not clean the ears before or during treatment with Zymox Otic Hydrocortisone Free. The treatment duration can last anywhere from 7 days to 14 days depending on how long the infection has been present. After the treatment is finished a flush is recommended to remove any residual product and accumulated dead skin cells. Zymox Otic Hydrocortisone Free can be use for an extended period on persistent cases. If you are using this product for an extended period or the debris does not easily resolve, your veterinarian will be the best person to help with the debris removal Thank you, VetRxDirect
