This pill was recommended by a vet and it has turned him around completely...although he still turns his nose up at kidney recommended food, he is eating soft food that lets me sprinkle this pill over it. I'll keep buying it as long as it helps him. -

My vet recommend it when one of our cats was starting to fail and her kidney functions were not up to par. After a few months on AvinAvast she seemed to perk up and her kidney functions were in a normal range. Currently I have a cat who is fairly healthy but has an occasional UTI and has had problem with "leaking". She has been on this supplement for about 9 months and has had further UTIs and her leaking has almost completely stopped. Once in awhile she will leak a spot while purring on my lap but we have found no spots on furniture, etc. This kitty will 20 years old in February and expect we will keep her on this supplement for the rest of her life. -

easy to add to food...
From undisclosedComments about AminAvastThe vet said to give my cat two capsules per day. Since it is a powder, it is very easy to pour the powder from the gel caps into a bit of food. Actually, i use a squeezable type treat and stir the AdminAvast into the sauce, and the cat laps it up!

One of the ingredients in AminAvast is Maltodextrin which is a sugar. How does it effect the cat's blood sugar levels? Is there enough of it in a capsule to raise it??

According to the manufacturer, maltodextrin has been studied in 2 feline studies, 1 canine study, and 2 human studies with no evidence of an increase in blood sugar. Additionally, the manufacturer states that their formula has been used since 2009 without any reports of increase in blood sugar. Amnivast My cat has diabetes and his blood glucose has settled to a reasonable number. I gave him amnivast this morning 1/2 capsule mixed in his food. His his blood glucose was a lot higher tonight. Could this be caused by amnivast? Also, he ate the wet food and 1/2 capsule mixed in his food this morning. Tonight the amnivast sprinkles have been mixed in his food. He's not as hungry. In addition, this evening he is drinking more between bites of food. Is this to be expected??

I have a 9lb cat in renal failure who has been on Aminavast for over a year. I have recently been having difficulties getting her to take the medication. She has always been a picky eater so sprinkling on food will not work. She no longer will take pill pockets. I have been opening her mouth and placing pill in the back of mouth. Question Can I give her both daily pills at the same time??

The manufacturer recommends giving this product twice daily. They suggest for finicky cats, or those whose appetite is diminished, take a small syringe (about 3ml) and fill it with 1.5 ml of water. Dispense the water into a small cup, mix with the contents of the AminAvast™ capsule, then draw the solution back into the syringe, and then squirt the contents of the syringe into the cat's mouth.
