GREAT PRODUCT
We adopted a rescued ~3 year old Beagle in May of 2013. He is the best thing that has happened to me since my daughters were born. When we brought Eddy home he was afraid of everything. We would move the chairs on the deck and he would notice and shy away from going out. I bought him a new dog bed and he was to scared to even go sniff it (he loves it now). Eddy would also spend his day upstairs in the bedroom and only come down when he had to go out or eat, He would shy away when anyone would come towards him.
Well...in June our veterinarian suggested we try Anxitane (well not us, but Eddy). We bought a package and Eddy seemed to be getting better. We then thought after Eddy had been on the Anxitane for the full package that maybe he was better just because we had him long enough. We discontinued use and within 3 or 4 days his fearful tendencies returned. I immediately went back to the vet and purchased some more Anxitane. Eddy returned back to a calmer, more well-adjusted pal.
After that we started to purchase the Anxitane from Vet RX Direct due to the considerable price difference.
This is a great product (without being a prescription type like Prozac) that Eddy will be on for the rest of his LONG life!!

Less Anxiety
From UndisclosedComments about Anxitane (L-Theanine) S, 50mg L-Theanine per Tab, 30 Tablet BoxI picked this product hoping to relieve anxiety in my cocker spaniel Rayne. He has been taking it for a week and I already see him calming down around people and other dogs. It has made his Heel training a lot easier and he is responding. I only gave it four stars because it is still early in his treatment.-
This is mine and you can't have it

Best natural anxiety support
From UndisclosedComments about Anxitane (L-Theanine) S, 50mg L-Theanine per Tab, 30 Tablet BoxThis is the only product I've found that is actually highly effective at managing my cat's anxiety, both acutely and long-term. I use this for my cat during periods of acute stress (i.e during travel) and over long periods of time to calm his somewhat anxious personality. The calming effects also help his stress-induced urinary symptoms. I've seen mixed reviews for this product but my experience has been positive. Anxitane isn't as powerful as something prescribed by a vet, but it's natural and doesn't have any nasty side effects, which I greatly appreciate. I took off 1 star because it's slightly difficult to administer. My cat won't take the pill in his food, so I crush it, mix it with water, and syringe it into his mouth. -

Really helps fearful dog that is noise reactive
From UndisclosedComments about Anxitane (L-Theanine) M and L, 100mg L-Theanine per Tab, 30 Tablet BoxFormer street puppy, came to me at 6 months very fearful and timid. Gradually came out of her shell and became fairly confident over the next year but recently started becoming very fearful and stressed over odd things. She was very noise reactive, and scared of things that didn't bother her before. No physical reason could be determined, vet wanted to try her on Prozac. That lasted 6 days, it made her even more frightened and she stopped eating. I bought the Anxitane tablets along with an Adaptil collar, and they have made a world of difference. No longer oddly scared of random things, the noise phobia is much less and I have a much happier dog. I don't know which product is more helpful, or whether it's the two in conjunction, but am planning on continuing the use of both for the foreseeable future. #sweepstakes.-
Relaxed and happy!

May be helping
From UndisclosedComments about Anxitane (L-Theanine) M and L, 100mg L-Theanine per Tab, 30 Tablet BoxThe behaviorist suggested Anxitane for both of my cats because Jasper gets very excited when he sees Stella and tries to chase her. I'm not sure the Anxitane is what's helping calm them downbecause Jasper is also on Reconcile and Stella is also on Zylkene, but it's definitely not hurting and may also be helping; it's just hard to know.-

Good for Separation Anxiety
From UndisclosedComments about Anxitane (L-Theanine) M and L, 100mg L-Theanine per Tab, 30 Tablet BoxMy dog suffers from serious separation anxiety and used to bark, scratch at doors, and carry on. This medicine helps so much when I have to leave to work! It is costly for a large dog and the pills are quite big, so keep this in mind.-

Possibly working- will have to check back in a few days
From UndisclosedComments about Anxitane (L-Theanine) M and L, 100mg L-Theanine per Tab, 30 Tablet BoxI think it might be working. I purchased this 1.5 weeks ago and only finally started giving her 1 pill consistently for the last 2-3 days. And any form of medication can take atleasr 15 days to adjust a body. It says under 55lbs gets half a tab twice a day. She is under 55lbs but I still gave her 1 full pill in the morning with her breakfast then I give her CBD chews in the PM with her dinner. What really shocked me was last night when I was on the phone with a friend, she actually calmed herself down on the couch after a few minutes. Usually she is all up in my space or trying to get into something to get my attention. She actually laid down on the couch and tried to sleep. Sooooo maybe the medication is working?! 🤷🏼♀️ -

Reliable and Consistent
From UndisclosedComments about Anxitane (L-Theanine) S, 50mg L-Theanine per Tab, 30 Tablet BoxHave used this product for years with good success. Half a tab when our kitty Diego is agitated or stressed really helps. Takes about 20 min. to have a calming effect. And it must smell good to him since he always gobbles it up like a favorite piece of kibble!-
Diego endorses Anxitane!

Q & A
-
I missed a dose, can I give my 40 lb dog a full tablet.?
-
Anxitane can be a beneficial adjunctive supplement when combined with a behavior modification program in pets exhibiting nervousness, anxiety or environmentally induced stress. The manufacturer recommends giving ½ tablet twice daily for long term administration in dogs weighing 22.1 - 55 pounds. They also state that during an episodic event to give ½ tablet, 12 hours and 2 hours before the event and ½ tablet every 6 hours during the event. Always check with your veterinarian prior to doubling the dose of any medication for your pet in the event of a missed dose. Doubling the dose may lead to increased side effects and may not have any benefit over skipping the missed dose. Follow the manufacturer's dosing guidelines for Anxitane and resume the normal dosing schedule of ½ tablet twice daily for your 40 pound dog. Thank you, VetRxDirect

What should be done or is it a major concern if your dog eats a whole package of treats containing ltheanine 21mg. Approx 58 treats ?
-
The L-theanine contained in Anxitane is considered to be a safe chemical for pets. The amount that your pet ingested should not cause them harm. Ingesting this amount may, however, induce some agitation or even lethargy in your pet. If you notice symptoms more severe than these in your pet, please consult your veterinarian.

can my german shepherd dog take anxitane just for thunderstorms? And can she take it while on tramadol and rimadyl??
-
Sandi, Anxitane is a product that helps keep pets calm and relaxed for situations like thunderstorms. It can be given daily or it can be given 12 hours before, then 2 hours before, then every 6 hours during a thunderstorm. For best results, the manufacturer suggests a complete behavior program for your pet in addition to Anxitane tablets. It is not intended for use in animals with severe phobias, separation anxiety or in animals with a known history of aggression. Anxitane is a supplement so interactions with other medications, including tramadol and Rimadyl, are not known. Please talk to your veterinarian before giving your dog to determine the best dose. What does it taste like, is there an unpleasant taste? Can it be formulated in a transdermal if my cat won't take it orally??
-
Carol, While the manufacturer does not specify the flavor of the chewable tablets on the package itself, one of the ingredients is listed as poultry flavor. As with any flavor, some pets will like it better than other pets will. We are not aware of Anxitane transdermal gel being available, however the manufacturer of Anxitane, Virbac Animal Health, will best be able to answer the question. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Is this safe if I give with melatonin??
-
Mark, The manufacturer of Anxitane states that a complete behavior modification program should be included in a addition to the supplement. They also recommend consulting your veterinarian if there is no improvement seen within 30 days. The combination of melatonin and L-theanine does not appear to be contraindicated, however, you should consult with your veterinarian to make sure that combining the supplements is in the best interest of your pet.
