How do you use Aventi Kidney Complete?
- Give 1 small level scoop (0.6g) per 5.5 lbs/ 2.5 kg of body weight.
- Give 1 large level scoop (2.4g) per 22 lbs/10 kg of body weight.
- The daily dose can be divided over meals given. Sprinkle the powder onto food.
- When feeding kibble, pre-moisten with water. Add the powder when meal will be consumed.
- If needed, the powder can be mixed with water and given orally by syringe.

A regular part of our care routine for dog's kidney failure
We use this as a supplement for our four-year-old dog, who has stage 3 chronic kidney failure. Our vet recommended it in addition to his prescription medication to boost kidney function. Our dog is willing to eat it sprinkled on top of his wet food. I'm not a vet, so it's hard to quantify how much it helps our dog, but we haven't had any problems with it making him nauseous, which he is prone to. If your vet recommends it, I would say give it a try. We ordered the same product from another company when we were living oversea, and the quality of the product we received from VetRxDirect was just as good. We're planning to purchase it here again when we go through everything. #sweepstakes

How on earth do you give this to a cat?
The vet gave this to me to pay for so it can sit on my counter. There is no way to get this inside my cat. A large scoop of powder? Are you kidding? My cat eats one kind of soft food and if it smells different she will voluntarily starve to death before touching it. I can force-feed a small amount of powder dissolved in gravy, but I'm already doing this with an incompatible supplement for arthritis and I can only manage that once a day. There needs to be some kind of concentrated tiny cat-sized dosage. I just don't even know what to do with this.

I really like the container as it keeps the powder fresh- keeping the moisture out. I mix the powder with pate food and add a little warm water and she doesn't even notice that she is taking her medicine. The label says that the Aventi Kidney Complete can be dissolved in water. It does NOT dissolve. The Aventi KS used to dissolve and I administered it with a syringe. My cat will not eat his food if I sprinkle the supplement on the food. I bought this product because of the instructions on the label. I tried dissolving in both hot and cold water. I even let it sit for a while. Nothing seemed to work. Any suggestions???

We were not able to get a response from the manufacturer on how to best dissolve the product into water. In our own tests, using warm water and shaking the mixture combined the powder and the water well. The powder does not dissolve, and would need to be shaken repeatedly, immediately prior to administration. Please contact your veterinarian for his or her recommendations on how best to give the Aventi Kidney Complete. Your veterinarian may have better suggestions.

I use this for my 5lb Chihuahua- I add a small amount of water the the dose and then use the tip of the syringe to stir it up and it easily becomes a water mixture I can syringe feed her. Maybe you got a weird batch? :/

Hello! After trying everything under the sun, it looks like I've found the magic "treat". I now use canned liver pate which I buy from my local grocery store. I use about half a teaspoon and mix the powder into that and cream it like crazy. My kitty loves it and thinks she's merely getting a yummy treat. I hope this continues to work! Good luck!!!

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to mix this with for my cat or how to get this to dissolve? We've tried all kinds of wet cat food and he knows when we have mixed it in and won't touch the food. Tried mixing it with liquids and it doesn't dissolve.?

Per manufacturer recommendations, Aventi Kidney Complete powder may be mixed with water and administered orally through a syringe if necessary.

It is true that it doesn't dissolve into water without mixing. First, level your spoon mix, no heaping scoops, this needs to be exact. Next, I only feed my cats wet food, so I put half or all the wet food in their bowls, add aventi, then use a baby spoon to FOLD the wet food over, working from the outside to the center (do not mix side to side). I also add 2 tablespoons of warm water after folding in EVERYTIME. If any powder rises to the top or is easily seen, then I use my baby spoon to lightly dunk the powder into the wet food mixture (because I want to keep the powder in the bowl). If any powder residue is left on the baby spoon, swish it GENTLY in the wet food liquid. There was only one time where I didn't do these steps to mix in the aventi & one of my cats accidentally breathed in some unmixed powder & had an asthma attack. So doing the steps above will ensure it is well mixed in, while not risking your cat inhaling the powder because they're too busy chowing down on food. Otherwise they eat their food with the aventi in it, no issues whatsoever.
