It would be best to contact your veterinarian and let them know that your dog is not tolerating the post surgical antibiotic treatment. Your veterinarian may be able to suggest ways to minimize stomach upset or choose to modify or extend current antibiotic therapy. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Hello I have a large cat that I have care taked for 5 years now she was dumped where I live. She has a respiratory cough and I need to know what the dosage is for a cat of 25 lbs with 250 mg capsules of Cephalixin ?

While the dosage of cephalexin is related to your pet’s weight, there are many factors that are considered when choosing the appropriate medication and dose. Your veterinarian will diagnose the coughing symptoms and will determine the appropriate treatment regimen for your pet. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Is this the same cephalexin the Dr proscribed me for my skin infection on my big toe?
-
Cephalexin, or Keflex (brand name), is an antibiotic that is used in both human and veterinary medicine. There are currently no FDA-approved cephalexin products marketed for veterinary use in the United States. For this reason, when treating pets, the indication for use and dosage of cephalexin must be determined by an experienced, licensed, veterinarian. We recommend consulting with your pet’s veterinarian to determine the appropriate dose for your pet as this dose is generally based upon your pets indication and weight. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Dusty, Cephalexin is a prescription medication and will require approval from the veterinarian to dispense. It will be up to your dog's veterinarian whether or not they need to see the dog again each time they prescribe the medication or if they are comfortable allowing refills on a prescription. Thank you, VetRxDirect

do I need a prescription to buy cephalexin and if I do how do I send it??
-
Kay, Cephalexin does require a prescription. We can accept prescriptions in a couple of different ways. If your pet's veterinarian has issued you a written prescription, we do need the original and that can be mailed to us. If the clinic is willing to fax a prescription, we can accept faxed prescriptions directly from clinics, and we would be happy to request the prescription from the clinic once an order has been placed. Thank you, VetRxDirect
