Very effective.
Have had issues with my German Shephards ears since he was very young. Have tried everything. My dog doesn't like anyone or anything to touch his ears. All the other daily treatments were impossible as it is a wrestling match with this 120lb dog every day. I took my dog to the vet one way in regards to his ears. I was there to tell the vet it was time to do the procedure we did a few years earlier. Basically, anesthetize him and have the vet clean his ears out and then put the same stuff in he did last time. He told me we don't have to do that any more. We got 4 people in the room, we got the dog held down and we got the Claro in both ears. The results were amazing. Highly recommend.

Horrible experience for my dog and me
Our vet applied this to our terrier mix, Cooper, resulting in 30 days of painful whining and oozing ears. It created a sticky discharge which required delicate cleaning of the ear flap EVERY DAY FOR A MONTH. The waxy discharge was nearly impossible to remove from his fur. It created extreme discomfort and he was constantly trying to shake and claw this junk out of his ear. What a nightmare!

Normal dog now has trouble eating, drinking, and walking.
From Moscow IdahoComments about Claro Otic SolutionMy vet suggested this product for my dog's waxy ears. Afterward, her tongue stopped working correctly, making it difficult for her to eat and drink. She also become ataxic, having difficulty standing or walking. It has basically turned her into an invalid and robbed her of quality of life. I have to feed her by hand, and have been hydrating her with saline from the vet given at home sub-q. We had the vet try to flush Claro from her ears, as best as could be done. One week after application, Lucy is walking again, but wobbly. I wish so much we had never used this. -
My dog now appears to be deaf
From Punta Gorda FloridaComments about Claro Otic SolutionI am so sad that I didn't try some type of a home remedy to clear up the yeast in my little dogs ears. He now appears to be deaf and will never hear "Good Boy" or our voices again. It breaks my heart I let this happen to my beloved pet. -
Claro
From Ontario canadaComments about Claro Otic SolutionVet treated my dog with claro ear medication in November. He stopped eating after 2 days. Had vet do full bloodwork and stool sample after week 2 and all good. I was literally outs small amounts of tin food in his mouth and holding it closed. Vet put him on stomach meds and well into week 3 he finally ate small bits of chicken . He is a small shizu Maltese mix and list 1.5 pounds. It wasn't until 32 days after he was given claro that he finally ate a meal. Never again will any of my dogs use this medication. -

My dog received this treatment on Friday 6/19/20 Ever since the treatment he's been completely, "Off" running around in circles shaking his head back-and-forth has been extremely lethargic. Took him to the vet today -no signs of ear infection bacteria or yeast. What can this be....?

Claro Otic contains florfenicol as an antibiotic, terbinafine as an antifungal, and mometasone as a steroid. According to the manufacturer, there are no reported adverse effects to this medication. But warns that it should not be used in dogs with ruptured or damaged eardrums, or dogs with impaired liver function. Because this contains a steroid, dogs should receive regular check ups and blood work when being treated. Please consult with your veterinarian with any further questions or concerns regarding this medication and your dog.

Because of coved 19 my vet has approved me giving this medication. Do you have any specific instructions for application . Is it just getting it in the ear in general?
-
According to the manufacturer's package label, the directions for use are as follows: Administer one dose (1 dropperette) per affected ear. The duration of effect should last 30 days. 1. Clean and dry the external ear canal before administering the product. 2. Verify the tympanic membrane is intact prior to administration. 3. Remove single dose dropperette from the package. 4. While holding the dropperette in an upright position, remove the cap from the dropperette. 5. Turn the cap over and push the other end of the cap onto the tip of the dropperette. 6. Twist the cap to break the seal and then remove cap from the dropperette. 7. Screw the applicator nozzle onto the dropperette. 8. Insert the tapered tip of the dropperette into the affected external ear canal and squeeze to instill the entire contents (1 ml) into the affected ear. 9. Gently massage the base of the ear to allow distribution of the solution. 10. Repeat with other ear as prescribed. Cleaning the ear after dosing may affect product effectiveness.

How long do I have to wait after Claro application for me to fuse an ear flush solution. My dog still have debris in her ears 1 week after application and want to clean them out.?
-
The manufacturer of Claro Otic Solution states that it should be administered by veterinary personnel, and that one dose should have a duration of effect of 30 days. The external ear canal should be cleaned and dried first before administration and integrity of tympanic membrane verified as well. Unfortunately at VetRxDirect, our staff cannot advise you specifically when to flush your pet dog’s ears. Please contact your veterinarian to confirm when it is appropriate to clean your dog’s ears. I have two 9 month old puppies and this was applied to my males ears on 8/13. My female likes to lick his ears. Will this have an effect on my female puppy? The vet tech said it could make her go blind but I see nothing in the literature about this possibility.?
-
Claro Otic Solution is for external use only, therefore it should not be orally ingested. However, the manufacturer reports no formal complaints or reports of toxicity when accidentally ingested. The concern is that saliva from another dog is coming in contact with an already infected ear. This could hinder healing or expose the infection to new organisms. Please follow up with your veterinarian regarding further questions or therapy.
