Great Source for Pet Meds
From Gardnerville NVComments about EpakitinI use Epakitin for my 13-year-old cat Lucy who has had kidney disease since she was three. We thought we were going to lose her a few years ago, but the Vet put her on Epakitin and she is still a loving, happy cat. And, including the shipping fee, I still save $12 for each bottle I order over what i was paying at the Vet. And it is saving Lucy's life.-
Lucy loves Mommy's purse. It's hers now.

My Vet prescribed Epakitin
From Vincent, OhioComments about EpakitinMy Labrador Retriever was 12 1/2 years old when diagnosed with renal failure. My Vet prescribed Epakitin along with a change in diet and subcutaneous fluids. Keaton is 13 now and doing well. His latest laboratory results actually showed improvement after 6 months following the new regimen. -

Great for my cat with CRF
From Maryland, USAComments about EpakitinAt the recommendation of my vet, I started giving this to my 5 yr old cat who has been diagnosed with CRF. This supplement, in combination with the prescription food, has really worked wonders in restoring my cats quality of life. Also consider Nordic Naturals omega 3 supplement if your cats joints are cracking and they have CRF. As this is an issue with calcium not being created in the marrow and the omega 3 will clear it right up. Anyway, thanks epikitin! -

Incredible price
From Tucson, AZ, USAComments about EpakitinI've been getting this from my vet for $45 per tiny canister. Truly a rip-off. I started looking around for the electrolytes that my cat has to have, and thought I'd look this up as well, to see if I could find a better price. It's the exact same thing you'd get from your vet, just 55% cheaper. So, so worth it - and vital to my pet's health! I completely recommend it. -
Great value for a good product
From Los Angeles, CA, USAComments about EpakitinI have a senior cat with renal issues. My vet recommended this and it appears to be helping to keep things stabilized. I'm glad I found VetRxDirect ... I purchased my last bottle more than 2/3 less than it cost from the vet and shipping was much faster than advertised and expected. Great product. Great source. -

My cat has CKD3 and is approximately 5 kg. So would the correct dose be 1 g twice a day with his meals or is it 1 g over the course of the day with his meals??
-
The manufacturer's general suggested use is to give 1 gram per 5 kg of body weight by mouth in the morning and the evening. This would be 1 gram in the morning and 1 gram in the evening for a 5 kg (11 pound) cat. One level scoopful (scoop is provided) contains 1 gram of Epakitin. We contacted the manufacturer about your cat’s CDK3 and weight. They still felt confident that the suggested twice daily dosing of 1 gram in the morning and evening was appropriate. Please consult your veterinarian regarding any further questions or concerns regarding this medication in your cat.

My cat is in renal failure and eats small meals throughout the day every 3 or 4 hours. How would I give the doses in this case. Just the 1st one in morning and last one at night? Because he eats about 5 times a day. Or can one dose be spilt up and given over a few meals? If I feed him twice a day he doesn't eat enough. He eats about 1/2 tablespoon at a time. Thank you!?
-
Epakitin is a phosphate binder that supports normal function and health of the kidneys in cats. Although it is recommended to give 1 gram/5 kg of body weight by mouth in the morning and evening, the manufacturer actually recommends splitting the total daily dosage over all meals given as there is phosphate in everything they eat. If you have any additional questions, please speak with your veterinarian to determine the best way to administer this product to your cat.

Our 15lb Rat-Chi is in Stage 3 or 4 of renal failure. He's not eating his usual soft food right now...only small chunks of chicken or beef. The powder obviously wont stick to the meat. What are some ways to give him his 1.5 (tiny) teaspoon amount twice a day? (Dissolve in water? Milk? Other ideas?) Lastly, what does this taste like to the dog? Is it a bad taste or a good flavor to dogs? Thanks.?
-
The manufacturer recommends mixing the powder with the morning and evening meals, the dose may be mixed with water or milk, however, the entirety of mixture needs to be consumed with (or just prior to eating) the meals in order to provide the desired effect of binding dietary phosphorus. Epakitin is an unflavored powder, and does not have any specific flavor associated with it. You may consider speaking with your veterinarian to determine the best way to administer this product to your dog
