What is GenOne Topical Spray for Dogs?

Why do cats and dogs use GenOne?
- GenOne is prescribed to help kill certain bacteria and help the skin heal from the minor lesions they cause.
- GenOne may also prevent skin infections after surgery.
- The betamethasone can be beneficial for “hot spots,” where the skin is irritated, and can decrease inflammation and itching.
What else should I know about GenOne?
- Broad-spectrum antibiotic topical spray for dogs.
- Relieves pain, swelling, and itching.
- Treats a wide range of bacterial skin infections and superficial lesions.
- No-mess, direct application with the pump spray bottle.
What problems could my dog or cat have with GenOne?
- If GenOne is sprayed on ulcerated or burned skin, there could be side effects from the drug being absorbed into the body.
- Always contact your veterinarian if you notice issues after starting a new medication.
How do you use GenOne?
- Remove excess hair from the lesion area.
- Clean the lesion and the area surrounding it.
- Use GenOne spray as directed by your pet's veterinarian, and apply only to the areas that they specify.
- Wash your hands after applying GenOne.

Will I get what I see in the picture?
- GenOne is a brand name. You will receive the exact brand that you request.
Is it important for my dog or cat to finish all of the GenOne?

Stop itchiness
From Fairfax, VAComments about GenOne Topical SprayMy dog was first prescribed this spray by her Veterinarian. She also had a staph infection and she had red splotches all over her skin, the one that was exposed we could see it all and it just continue to get worse. We went to the vet once it kept continuing After we thought it went away. Once we used this, and a couple additional treatments our vet recommended including I think an oral and a shampoo, it all cleared for a year or so. Every once in awhile she gets itchy we can tell it's from something outside. We use this to ease it and it goes away typically after a day of use or two, three at the most. I highly recommend this!!-

Great Product Relieves Itchy Skin and Promotes Healing
From UndisclosedComments about GenOne Topical Spray 240mL BottleProduct was recommended by our Vet. Our 6 month old shepherd is allergic to flea bites. Although we give her monthly flea treatments and also have our yard treated, she still has reactions when a flea does bite her.. This helps with the excessive itching and also aids in healing. It definitely works and helps relieve the itching and promotes healing if the skin is broken or irritated.-

Q & A

Can this product be used on a female dogs recessed vulva due to inflammation??
-
Genone Spray requires a prescription from the veterinarian. Please consult with your veterinarian, they will be able to recommend the most appropriate medication to treat your dog's inflammation.
Verified Answer -
No this is a temporary fix in that scenario and it will sting the vulva greatly. You can use chlorahexadine solution to gently clean around the vulva or saline. A recessed vulva typically needs surgery or long term monitoring for common complications.

Is this product safe in case my dog licks the area where sprayed??
-
According to the manufacturer, ingestion of GenOne Spray should be avoided because it contains a steroid. If your dog does ingest it, by licking, you should monitor the dog and call your veterinarian.
Verified Answer -
Your dog will be fine. It's best to use a cone, they come in plastic or soft side, that is at least an inch longer than the snout when using this medication as it is ineffective if licked off. If the location of the hotspot is more toward the front of the dog, anything that can't be reached by him turning around, can be protected by using a donut cone instead of a regular cone.

I am using this on my dog's nose. Should I also be cleaning my dogs nose (top of the actual nose) or is that not necessary? Also, whenever I spray my dogs nose he licks it off!! How do I prevent that. I spray right before eating but he still licks immediately. Thanks?
-
The manufacturer does recommend cleaning the affected area before applying the GenOne Spray. If your dog is continually licking off the spray we recommend asking your veterinarian about prevention methods or they may suggest a different treatment option.

Hi, My dog is suffering from flea bites and has some irritated patches of skin. Would this be a good product to relieve her itching and is it harmful if she licks the area after spraying GenOne? Thank you!?
-
GenOne is a prescription medication containing two active ingredients: gentamicin (antibiotic) and betamethasone (anti-inflammatory). It is indicated for the treatment of infected lesions growing bacteria that respond to gentamicin. Speak with your veterinarian, they will be able to recommend the most appropriate medication to treat your dog's flea bites. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Is it safe if my dog licks the wound with the Genone spray on.?
-
GenOne is a topical spray containing gentamicin and betamethasone valerate. Gentamicin is an antibiotic and betamethasone is a corticosteroid. GenOne is indicated for bacterial infections of the skin, as well as preventing skin infections after surgery. Betamethasone can be beneficial for "hot spots" where the skin is irritated, and can decrease inflammation and itching. Prolonged oral ingestion of corticosteroids such as betamethasone found in GenOne, may result in systemic side effects. Follow dosing directions provided by your veterinarian carefully and apply GenOne only to the areas specified to reduce chances of side effects. Please consult your veterinarian for further information. Thank you, VetRxDirect
