- Hairballs are a fact of life when you have a cat. When cats groom themselves, they ingest their fur, which creates hairballs that can clog the intestines and cause vomiting.
- Laxatone combines petrolatum and mineral oil, two gentle and effective lubricants, to prevent the development of hairballs and to move existing hairballs through your cat’s system quickly and safely.

Amazing results!
My cat Pooka, was having trouble for weeks with a hairball. Our vet suggested Laxatone and we got the tuna flavor. Pooka was NOT excited, and I would have to sneak up on him and practically shove it in his mouth.
Even though it was traumatic for both of us... I continued to do so because it was definitely helping.
I looked Laxatone up online and found it on Vet Direct for less money than it cost through my vet.
We decided to try the maple flavor, and it was like night and day! He now licks it off my finger instead of having to be force fed. The hairball he was struggling with for weeks finally came up and he's been happier ever since! 😻
We will continue to keep it for emergencies and/ or as a preventative. Thank goodness I found this site!

Pretty good stuff
Works well, though some experimentation needs to be done to find the right dose, caution, don't overdo the dosage. the cat doesn't lick it like a treat, but does lick it off his paw with little fuss.

He stayed at the vet 2 days, and Laxatone was recommended for me to use to prevent this happening again. It is basically a lubricant for their digestive system. My cat does not like the TUNA flavor that much, but REGULAR works. If your cat is having a problem passing hairballs, or pooping, see you vet right away. After that Vet had me give him about a 1 inch strip of Laxatone added to his canned food every other day as a preventative. I also use Temptations Hairball Control Treats which have the same basic ingredients, just not as concentrated. Between the two my cat has done fine since then. -

From Tyler, TX, USAComments about LaxatoneI have used this one for years, but amazon had one less expensive that was still called Laxatone (?), but when I received it and then tried to use it, I found out it was chicken flavor and also that you have to shake it up and it's more or less a liquid, not like the original malt-flavored laxatone which is so easy to get into their mouth because it has a type of petroleum jelly so it doesn't run. Nadia and I agree after one dose of that new one, we hoped the order of the old one got here in time we could throw the old one away without having to use it again and it did! I received the product very quickly. -

Have a cat that just doesn't like it. Put some on her paws. 2 hours later it was untouched and dried to a crust. While using warm water to remove it I thought perhaps I could dissolve it in warm water, allow to cool and then syringe it into my cats mouth. Since my cat is reluctant to lick it off my finger, her paws or her nose is there any reason this method might be ineffective??

I have always used regular flavor Laxatone but you are showing it out of stock. Is it no longer going to be available in the regular flavor??

Laxatone is still available in the regular flavor, the packaging has just been renamed to call it maple flavor. To be clear, we are currently out of stock of the 2.5 oz maple flavored laxatone, but do have 4.25 oz maple flavored laxatone.

Is it safe to take with Renaplus??

Yes, laxatone is a petrolatum-based product that can be safely given with Renaplus for potassium replacement. If your pet is using laxatone for constipation, be aware that pets with constipation should not receive the tablet form of Renaplus. If your pet is constipated, speak with your veterinarian about the safest method to replace potassium.
