Diabetic Dogs sight.
From undisclosedComments about Ocu-GLOMy dog is diabetic (Vetsilin shot twice a day), 13years old, and was told by my vet, he would more than likely lose his eyes sight in 6 months or so. Ocu-GLO was recommended to me by my vet and I give him one a day, it is almost 2 years now and though his sight is dimming he can still see pretty well. I wrap it in OSCAR MAYER Braunschweiger to give to him. It is very bitter if they bite into it and it will stain. -
Ocu-Glo to prevent diabetes related cataracts.
From undisclosedComments about Ocu-GLOMy dog was recently diagnosed with diabetes and I have read that 75% of dogs diagnosed will develop cataracts within 9 months of their diagnosis. Diabetic cataracts can develop suddenly, even as quickly as overnight. Per research I was happy to find good supporting data that this supplement would decrease the chance of him developing it or at least slowing the progress. Time will tell. In the mean time I have started him on the supplement. I ordered it here at a lower cost using the monthly subscription, actually cheaper anywhere I found online. It arrived very quickly and started my dog on it immediately. -
I did not hesitate to order the special offer for 3 bottles.
From undisclosedComments about Ocu-GLOI am giving the Ocu-Glo to my 14 year old miniature Schnauzer who has cataracts in both eyes...one being further along than the other. When his eye specialist recommended this I could not wait to get it ordered and start him on it. The other reviews had me concerned about the size of the "pill" but since it is more like a gelcap and is smaller than I anticipated it is no problem for him. He does love peanutbutter and I do put just enough to let him know the jar is still available but he is taking it with barely any at all on it. I want to start my Yorkie on it but will ask the vet before I do. Their regular vet agreed for me to start this and I am looking forward to an even better report the next time we go for a check up with the specialist. -
It may / may not help
From SF Bay areaComments about Ocu-GLOMy dog has cataracts and congenital retinal problems. My eye vet says the eyes are worse but may have been even worse without the supplement. Because it can't hurt, he recommended staying on it. I give it to my dog surrounded with whipped cream cheese and be sure he swallows it. -
PRA Treatment
From undisclosedComments about Ocu-GLOI've been using this product with my Bernese Mountain Dog since he was diagnosed with PRA six months ago. Its hard to quantify the effectiveness but his sight has remained stable. -
Ocu-GLO is a necessity for my One-Eyed Wonder!
From undisclosedComments about Ocu-GLOMy cocker spaniel Molly had to have one eye removed due to glaucoma and a cataract, so we must keep her remaining eye healthy. She takes her Ocu-GLO daily with a half of a banana. (My husband gets the other half.) Molly's ophthalmologist, who recommended Ocu-GLO is very encouraged with the results. Molly herself has not complained. -
I do buy this product evey 3 months.

my dog started the powdered capsule about 5 days ago and seems to poop more than usual. She is 8 1/2lbs 1 capsule daily. Could this be a problem?
-
If your dog is experiencing loose stools or diarrhea, the dose may be too high. Stopping the supplement until stools return to normal may be beneficial. Consult with your veterinarian to determine which dose is best for your dog.

Why is my Ocu-Glo powder blend a different color than it used to be??
-
According to the manufacturer, they switched vendors for the raw material Astaxanthin to get a higher quality product. The older product may appear more yellow, while the newer product may appear more orange in color. Astaxanthin is a naturally-occurring carotenoid found in algae, shrimp, lobster, crab and salmon. Carotenoids are pigment colors that occur in nature and support good health.

Hi, I have a question about dosage. My dog is 11 pounds, and the suggested daily use for 11lb is one medium/large dog capsule. However wouldn't that be too much for him? The weight range is 11-30 lbs and I'm worried about side effects from overdosing. I would appreciate your answer.?
-
The manufacturer stated dosage for an 11 pound dog is 1 medium/large size dog capsule. The Ocu-Glo for small dogs contains half of the amount of active ingredients by weight per capsule compared to Ocu-Glo for medium/large dogs and is recommended for dogs under 11 pounds. You should contact your vet with your specific concerns to ensure proper care for you dog is provided.

-
Ocu-GLO snipcaps and powder blend are designed to be able to be opened and spread over food or a treat to make administration easier. You can open the powder blend capsules or snipcap to mix in with your dog’s meal, which may be easier for you and your dog.

WOULD IT BE TOO LATE TO START GIVING A DOG OCUGLO IF CATARACTS HAVE ALREADY SET IN AND THE DOG CANNOT SEE. WOULD IT REVERSE OR LESSEN THE CLOUDINESS OF THE EYES.?
-
Ocu-GLO is a product designed to support and maintain overall eye health. The manufacturer states it is intended to slow the onset of cataracts and maintain eye health as a preventative supplement. It will not reverse cataracts that have already set in. Consult your veterinarian regarding the treatment of your dog’s cataracts to ensure proper and effective treatment.

I am no vet but when we took our 5 year old Schnauzer to the Ophthalmologist for Retinal Degeneration, he recommended we also give it to our 10 year old Schnauzer for cataracts to slow down the process. Just thought I would share :)

My dog is 16 lbs, been having a hard time getting him to take the capsules now..Can he use the ones for small dogs? Even though they say 10 lbs and under? Could he take 2 small tables in place of the 1 capsule.?
-
According to the manufacturer, the strength of the liquid gel caps for medium to large dogs (> 11 lbs) is 350 mg. The strength of the liquid snip caps for small dogs (< 10 lbs) is 175 mg. Giving two of the liquid snip caps for small dogs would provide an equal amount to one of the liquid gel caps for medium to large dogs.
