Product is too hard
From VirginiaComments about Ocu-GLOThe product was too hard! My dog took the gel capsules just fine but this product was too hard for her even when I broke it into for her. Since I did not know this until I opened it, I do not have an option to return it. Even after I cut the product in quarters, my small dog could not chew the pieces. I don't know what I can do with them now. A lot of money gone. -

Q & A
-
What is the size of the pell? My dog will not eat the powder or the snip caps.?
-
This product comes in two different sizes. There is nothing from the manufacturer that tells us the exact size of each. The smaller capsule is designed for dogs weighing less than 10 pounds and the medium to large capsules are designed for dogs weighing 10 pounds or over. If you have further questions or concerns regarding this medication, contact your veterinarian for further information.

I was reading your information for the capsules, and I had ordered for my dogs. You web site says the human form has astaxanthin in it and the dog version has lycopene. The one I ordered that you sent me off of the dog site. So my question is can I use this version for my dogs. It is the powder version??? I don't want to hurt my dogs I want to help them?
-
This human Ocu-GLO is safe to use for dogs. Human formula contains astaxanthin instead of lycopene that is derived from tomato and also small differences in the vitamins from the canine formula.

My dog doesn't take pills well so I've been burying it in his soft food. He broke it once and didn't like the taste. He weighs 28 lbs. Can I give him three small capsules instead of one big one??
-
This supplement is a pharmaceutical grade vision supplement that has antioxidants to help support your dog's eye health. It comes as small size and med/large size and is dosed depending on the weight of the dog. The small dog GelCap has a different amount of each ingredient than the med/large dog GelCap. Giving 3 capsules instead of one large capsule will be giving your dog a different amount of the antioxidants. It would be important to clarify dosing of the medication in the small GelCaps with your pet's veterinarian before switching the product.

I'm trying to decide which dosage to order - the small dog or med to large dog dosage. My 11 year old dog is 11 pounds which puts her on the line between the two. I have a hard time imagining that she would take the same dosage as a very LARGE dog! She has been diagnosed with Diabetes and her Vet has suggested this for her. Also, she has a very sensitive stomach. What do you advise??
-
The manufacturer's dosing guide for Ocu-Glo is determined by weight, and recommends that a dog weighing 11-30 lbs would take 1 capsule of the medium/large formula. The small formula is labeled for dogs weighing 10lbs and under. If your vet has suggested this product, ask them about the correct dosage that will best suit your pet's needs.

Does this product come in a chewable formula? If not, how large are the tablets of capsules??
-
Ocu-GLO Rx does not come in a chewable formula; it is available as a gelcap and a snip cap. Gelcaps are designed to be swallowed whole. The snip caps have an outer casing and contain liquid medication inside. After cutting off the "snip" portion, the liquid can be poured over food or directly into your pet's mouth. Be careful when handling the opened snip cap because Ocu-GLO is bright orange and can stain pet hair and fabrics.

Can this be used for an 11 lb cat? He has feline herpes ulcer of the eye??
-
Ocu-Glo is an over-the-counter (OTC) eye supplement that contains antioxidants and omega fatty acids. This product is intended for adjunctive use in treating dogs with progressive retinal atrophy, or PRA. Giving Ocu-Glo to cats for feline herpes ulcers of the eye would be an off-label use of this medication.
