What is PancrePlus for Dogs and Cats?
- PancrePlus relieves the symptoms of Pancreatic Insufficiency Disorder (PID) in dogs and cats. PID is also known as EPI, or Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency.
- This prescription medication replaces the pancreatic enzymes that your dog or cat doesn’t produce but needs to digest the protein, sugar, and fat in food.
- PancrePlus is also fortified with Vitamins, A, D and E to boost your pet’s health.
Why do cats and dogs use PancrePlus?
- Dogs and cats with maldigestion, or Pancreatic Insufficiency Disorder (PID)/ Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI), suffer from weight loss, discomfort, and hair loss because they can’t properly digest the nutrients in food.
- The condition shuts down the pancreas, which produces digestive enzymes.
- PancrePlus replaces those enzymes so that your pet can digest needed proteins, sugars, and fats from food.
What else should I know about PancrePlus?
- Improves digestion and nutrition absorption in pets with PID/ EPI.
- Fast acting.
- Powder form mixes easily with food.
- Pancreatic enzymes made from a pork product.
- Vitamins A, D, and E for extra nutrition.
What problems could my dog or cat have with PancrePlus?
- Cats often do not like the taste of the pancreatic enzymes powder and may be more likely to take tablets or capsules made from crushed tablets. Some cats also may eat one brand of enzymes and not another. Talk to your veterinarian if you are havign trouble with medicating your cat.
How do you use PancrePlus?
- PancrePlus works best when mixed with food and food is allowed to sit before feeding. Always follow your veterinarian's directions for use.
- If using tablets, make sure that your cat or dog gets water or food right after taking the tablets. This may reduce the risk of damage to the esophagous.
- Avoid inhaling powder as it may cause lung irritation or worsen asthma.
- Avoid contacting your skin with the powder. Wash any powder from your skin as soon as possible.
What is in PancrePlus?
- PancrePlus contains pancreatic enzymes that break down the nutrients in food.
- These enzymes typically come from pork sources.
Will I get what I see in the picture?
- PancrePlus is a brand name. You will receive the exact brand that you request.
Is it important for my dog or cat to finish all of the PancrePlus?
- Dogs and cats may use PancrePlus for different lengths of time. Please consult your veterinarian if you have any questions.

Q & A
-
Is there any question for which you do not simply cut & paste from the label??
-
How long after giving a dose does the Pancreplus work for ? If given a dose and eating, then going back to eat more 1/2 hour later, would the enzymes still be effective??
-
The manufacturer states that the enzymes in PancrePlus begin to digest the food substrate upon contact. The manufacturer also has no timing recommendations in relation to the meal, but they do advise that the tablet should be given before each meal. If your cat or dog is taking the tablet formulation, be certain they get plenty of water or some food right after dosing to reduce the risk for esophageal damage. The powder formulation is mixed into moistened food and left at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before giving to your cat or dog. For best administration advice, it is recommended that you speak with your veterinarian.

If I refrigerate the food once it's been broken down by the enzymes, and give it to my dog the next day, is it still just as effective??
-
According to the manufacturer’s directions, PancrePlus is added to moistened food (canned or dry). Thorough mixing is necessary to bring the enzymes into close contact with the food particles. After mixing, let stand at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before feeding. The manufacturer states that the enzymes in PancrePlus begin to digest the food substrate upon contact, so there are no product performance issues with placing food in the fridge as long as food spoilage does not occur.

How long before feeding should we administer the tablets in cats? 10 minutes? 30 minutes? I know it said the powder should sit in food for 15 mins...?
-
PancrePlus tablets contain enzymes that help your cat digest and absorb fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. For the tablet formulation, the manufacturer has no timing recommendations in relation to the meal, but they do affirm that it should be given before each meal. If your cat is taking the tablet formulation, be certain they get plenty of water or some food right after dosing to reduce the risk for esophageal damage. For best administration advice, it is recommended that you speak with your veterinarian.

Have been giving my dog PancrePlus Powder for several years. Is each tablet equal to a teaspoon ??
-
According to the product labeling, one tablet of PancrePlus contains 9,000 units of lipase, 57,000 units of protease, and 64,000 units of amylase. One teaspoon of the PancrePlus powder contains 71,400 units of lipase, 388,000 units of protease, and 460,000 units of amylase. This means that one teaspoon of powder contains more lipase, protease, and amylase than one tablet. Please speak to your veterinarian in regards to what dose of PancrePlus is best for your dog.

Halitosis, or foul smelling breath is not a common side effect associated with administering pancreatic enzyme supplements. Speak with your veterinarian for further assistance as they may want to rule out the most likely reasons and/or offer suggestions on possible different methods of administering pancreatic enzyme supplements.
