It works. My little guy is not 100% but he won't be. However, he is comfortable and can negotiate the outdoor steps and can run, albeit cautiously, after his squirrel nemesis. -

Changed my dog's life!

We took him home and began to try to work with him to make him feel safe. When we took him to the vet they took x-rays of his back legs, the vet told us that he has severe arthritis in both knees. On a scale of one to ten its a ten the Dr said. There were multiple options to try, but the first he recommended to us was to put him on Rimadyl. After a couple weeks he was like a new dog, running and sitting on his bottom which he did not do prior. It gave Timmy the life he deserved after who knows how many years of abuse and neglect. He can keep up with my other pups and go for walks. After a few months his legs began to look bigger (one was much smaller than the other because he barely used it) and he began to use both legs evenly. If your dog is having any issues with getting around don't be scared off by the price its worth every penny! -

Our vet recommended RIMADYL chewable tabs after running blood work tests to be sure that her liver and kidney function were in good shape. Are they an over the counter drug that I can buy that will help with pain and swelling in my Bulldog similar to caroprfen?

Some traditional over-the-counter pain medications such as Tylenol may be used in dogs, but only under the direction and guidance of a veterinarian. It is not recommended to give any over-the-counter medications to your dog without first consulting with your veterinarian as they have the most updated health history of your dog and will be able to better recommend a dose.

Tramadol is an opioid, narcotic-like pain reliever that is used in the management of moderate to severe pain; such as post-surgical pain and severe arthritis. Tramadol is a human-labeled drug that is classified as a controlled substance due to it's potential for abuse. Rimadyl contains carprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), commonly used in the treatment of osteoarthritis and postoperative pain in dogs. Carprofen differs from tramadol because it is a non-narcotic medication that treats pain by reducing inflammation. VetRxDirect does not dispense tramadol but you should be able to get a tramadol prescription dispensed at your local pharmacy. Mich, The most common side effects reported with Rimadyl in dogs are vomiting, diarrhea, and decreased appetite. Very rarely, Rimadyl can cause stomach ulcers and problems with liver function. Your veterinarian may wish to perform liver tests if your pet is on the medication longer than a few weeks.
