Great product, Priced Well
From Marco Island, FloridaComments about Rimadyl (carprofen) Chewable TabletsThe price for this drug was considerably cheaper at VetRXDirect than that quoted by my vet. Having 11 animals requires that I get the best bang for the buck! -
I have my happy Westie boy back!
From Washington, D.C., DC, USAComments about Rimadyl (carprofen) Chewable TabletsFor some mystifying reason, Piper did not respond to the generic version of Rimadyl and hobbled around in pain due to arthritis until my vet decided to try Rimadyl. It works. My little guy is not 100% but he won't be. However, he is comfortable and can negotiate the outdoor steps and can run, albeit cautiously, after his squirrel nemesis. -

Changed my dog's life!
From Seattle, WA, USAComments about Rimadyl (carprofen) Chewable TabletsI found an injured older dog in the woods near a relatives home. He wasn't walking well and was incredibly scared of people. We took him home and began to try to work with him to make him feel safe. When we took him to the vet they took x-rays of his back legs, the vet told us that he has severe arthritis in both knees. On a scale of one to ten its a ten the Dr said. There were multiple options to try, but the first he recommended to us was to put him on Rimadyl. After a couple weeks he was like a new dog, running and sitting on his bottom which he did not do prior. It gave Timmy the life he deserved after who knows how many years of abuse and neglect. He can keep up with my other pups and go for walks. After a few months his legs began to look bigger (one was much smaller than the other because he barely used it) and he began to use both legs evenly. If your dog is having any issues with getting around don't be scared off by the price its worth every penny! -

Good first time experience
From Chicago, IL, USAComments about Rimadyl (carprofen) Chewable TabletsAs far as the product it was exactly as described and the same thing that we received as a sample from our vet. As far as the ordering experience it took a little longer than initially anticipated. The item shipped from Iowa and we live near Chicago- between getting our vets approval, filling the order and shipping, it took exactly a week to receive the product. Plan accordingly. -

WONDERFUL IMPROVEMENT in our 13+ year old Golden!
From Westchester County, New YorkComments about Rimadyl (carprofen) Chewable TabletsOur Golden Chelsea has taken glucosamine supplements for several years now...but she needed something more to get her up and moving with a lot more ease. Our vet recommended RIMADYL chewable tabs after running blood work tests to be sure that her liver and kidney function were in good shape. She has a much better range of movement for walking and playing now. The chewable tab is like a treat and she takes it eagerly. She is back on her way to being her "Elf-like" self!-

Q & A
-
Are they an over the counter drug that I can buy that will help with pain and swelling in my Bulldog similar to caroprfen?
-
Some traditional over-the-counter pain medications such as Tylenol may be used in dogs, but only under the direction and guidance of a veterinarian. It is not recommended to give any over-the-counter medications to your dog without first consulting with your veterinarian as they have the most updated health history of your dog and will be able to better recommend a dose.

Is this product the same as Tramadol 50mg.. If not what is.?
-
Tramadol is an opioid, narcotic-like pain reliever that is used in the management of moderate to severe pain; such as post-surgical pain and severe arthritis. Tramadol is a human-labeled drug that is classified as a controlled substance due to it's potential for abuse. Rimadyl contains carprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), commonly used in the treatment of osteoarthritis and postoperative pain in dogs. Carprofen differs from tramadol because it is a non-narcotic medication that treats pain by reducing inflammation. VetRxDirect does not dispense tramadol but you should be able to get a tramadol prescription dispensed at your local pharmacy. Please consult with your veterinarian to determine the appropriate pain-relieving medication for your pet.

Do I need a prescription from the Vet to order these.?
-
Yes, carprofen, the active ingredient in Rimadyl, does require a prescription from a licensed United States veterinarian. Once an order is placed, we can send a fax to your veterinary clinic requesting approval for the prescription which the clinic can fax back, or your pet's veterinarian may choose to issue you a written prescription, which you can then mail to us. I have heard of a generic carprofen chewable called Carodyl. Do you know anything about this or have any plans to carry it??

Silvana, It appears Carodyl is an international generic carprofen product and not available in the U.S. We expect to carry a FDA approved chewable carprofen generic soon. We will send out a marketing e-mail when this product is available, so make sure to sign up for our newsletter. Thank you, VetRxDirect
