Q & A

I am having a really hard time taking the needles off of the tubing after each use. Is this normal with this brand??
-
According to the manufacturer, they have not received any specific complaints about removing the needles from the tubing after use. Speak to your veterinarian for possible suggestions with this issue.
Verified Answer -
I use plyers to twist the needle, and it comes right off.

what size is the barrel of the 19G thin wall needle?
-
The higher the gauge, the smaller the needle barrel. The lower gauge needles are commonly used for more viscous (thicker) liquid medications. The needle dimensions are 1.10mm X 25mm. Please let us or your veterinarian know if you have any further questions or concerns.

How is the Terumo 20 G x 1 1/2" different from the former 20 G x 1"? Is the needle longer by a 1/2"? What is the reason for making the needle 1 1/2" instead of 1"??
-
The 1" needle is used for injections that are injected right below the skin into the fatty tissue (subcutaenous). The 1.5" needle is used for injections into the muscle tissue (intramuscular). The previous 1" syringes had a 18 gauge barrel (discontinued). The syringes with a 1 and ½ inch needle have a 20 gauge barrel. The higher the gauge, the thinner the needle. For direction on which needles are most appropriate for your pets needs, consult your pet's veterinarian.

Will these needles work with the IV Venoset? I am used to a screw on needle and IV. I just need to know that all these will work together. Thanks!?
-
The Termo needles can be used with the IV set as well as slip or luer lock syringes. The IV set has a universal slip attachment, meaning that needles slide on and off, vs screw in, so it can be used with virtually any brand of needle.

Need to compare flow rate of Terumo 19G thin-wall (NN-1925R) and 20G ultra-thin wall (NN-2025R) needles. Can anyone provide the inside diameter specs for these two needle products. Thanks?
-
Smaller gauge numbers indicate larger outer diameters, and larger gauge numbers indicate a smaller outer diameters. The inner diameter depends on both gauge number and wall thickness. Thin wall needles have a larger diameter that is designed to allow the use of a smaller gauge size with increased flow rates over regular walled needles. Generally the smaller gauge number indicates a faster flow rate. Unfortunately the manufacturer does not provide the inner diameter measurements for these needles, but the flow rates between a 19G thin-wall and a 20G ultra-thin wall will be relatively similar due to their closeness in size.

My vet wants me to order 3cc 22 gauge syringes for pulling up the B12 solution, plus *separate* 25 gauge needles for replacing the needle on the then-blunted syringe. Can you point me to the 3 cc *syringes* that my vet tech would be able to *pull the needle off of* in order to then replace the syringe's needle with this 25 gauge Terumo needle? I didn't know giving B12 to a cat can be so complicated!?
-
We carry a 3cc syringe but it does not have a gauge size. If this is what you need, those can be found under the "syringes without needles" but I would talk to your vet first to see if this is the correct syringe. Thank you, VetRxDirect

My vet sent me home with a bag of fluids and an 18 gauge needle attached. What's the difference between 18 gauge and 20 gauge needles??
-
The width of the needle will be the difference. The 20 gauge needle will be smaller than the 18 gauge needle. The higher the gauge number, the smaller the needle size. Thank you, VetRxDirect
Verified Answer -
Additionally, although the smaller gauge needles run the fluids a bit slower, the smaller gauge needles are easier to insert and are less painful for the cat. The ultra-thin gauge needles Terumo brand- were perfect for our CRF kitty needing daily hydration. We chose the 21 gauge. Hope this helps.

Will the Terumo needles work with Baxter solution sets??
-
The Terumo needles can be used with both Luer slip and Luer lok ends, so they should be compatible with your Baxter solution set. If you are still unsure, your veterinarian can provide guidance on what needles will work best. Thank you, VetRxDirect
