No more of vet's torture-needles
Terumo needles are civilized, even though our cat "Asi" isn't :)). She does growl a lot less with Terumo, size 20, then she did with the monojet, sz. 18. It's not just the size issue (in fact I may go back to the larger 18 since Asi is Type A--always having other things to do), but Terumo's simply slide in faster and with much less pain. For a nearly 19 year old cat who's always been a bit negative (continues to growl, spit and carry on when brushed out, after all these years) --we appreciate Terumo. They turn down Asi's volume and intensity. I've only done 8 sub-q's so far, who knows with more practice (for us both) perhaps she'll start purring.

NOT the same as Terumo's ULTRA thin wall needles!
Recently purchased the Terumo 21G x 1" needles to use when giving my senior cat with chronic renal disease her subQ fluids. For 25+ years, I've religiously used Terumo's ULTRA thin wall needles because they glide easily and smoothly through the skin upon insertion. They are the sharpest needle out there! But when I went to use the first one out of the new box, I knew something was very different! The needle was not nearly as easy to insert into her skin. And upon insertion, I could actually feel the skin tear! I was horrified that I put my petite Himalayan through that. It was then that I realized that the new needles were regular "Thin Wall" needles, rather than ULTRA thin wall as shown on the box in the listing photo. I feel the photo is misleading and should be replaced with what is actually being shipped. I simply do not believe the two types of needles are the same—either that or I got a bad batch of needles! Either way, I wasted my money as I refuse to use them. Don't want to put my cat through that again. I've got a stock of 20G UTW on the shelf, so we will just have to use those.

The 18 gauge we were originally given by our vet were awful, as anyone who has used them for infusion on a cat can attest. While they are a bit slower, the "ultra thin wall" does make them quicker than regular walled needles of the same size.-

A very good option for subcu fluids in a smaller cat
From undisclosedComments about Terumo NeedlesOur 16-year-old cat has kidney failure and we give her subcu fluids every other day. She is only 6 1/2 lb and quite compact. I decided to try the 1 inch 19 gauge Terumo needle after using 1 1/2 inch 20 gauge Terumo because there is not much cat to work with, and it was too easy to poke the needle through the other side of her scruff. I was concerned that these may be as uncomfortable as the vet's 18 gaugers due to the larger bore, but found that not only do they slide very easily into Cassie's scruff, and the shorter length makes it far easier to push the needle into her small scruff. She is comfortable throughout and these very sharp, slightly larger gauge needles deliver the fluids very quickly. The shorter needle is also easier to manipulate should the flow slow for some reason, with our cat remaining comfortable. I recommend Terumo needles as superior to the other brand our vet uses, and this length as being particularly useful in a small, thin cat. Taking the time and effort to deliver these fluids means that Cassie is very lively, happy and active. -

Thin-walled makes sense to me
From undisclosedComments about Terumo NeedlesI like the idea of "thin walled." The faster I can get the Sub Q treatment over, the better Kitty likes it. We can do 100 ml - 150 ml Lactated Ringers in about 3 minutes start to finish if there isn't any fussing. These babies are SHARP. Don't ask me how I know. I also like that they are the most economical I've found and that I can buy them by the needle v. a 100 count box. -
19 gauge thin wall terumo needles are great

Remember you want the shortest iv line possible with the bag hanging as high as possible. This means not having a big coil of iv line on the counter next to your cat. -

I'm looking for a Monoject 250 20 x 3/4 A needle for subq fluids for my cat. I can't seem to find that gauge anywhere. Do you sell those? I got the above-named needle from my vet but cannot seem to find them online anywhere.?

Unfortunately we do not sell the Monoject brand of needles at this time. The closest size that we currently carry is manufactured by Terumo, 20 gauge, length 1.5 inches. You may consider speaking with your veterinarian to see which types of needles are the best option for your pet’s needs and the type of medication you are administering. Your veterinarian may be able to provide you with a supply, or recommend an alternative size that is more available for purchase.

Currently, Terumo does not manufacture the 20g veterinary needles in 1 inch length. If you feel that you need a shorter length needle, you may discuss this with your veterinarian to determine if another size needle will work for you and your pet.

So to be sure the thin wall NN2525R terumo needles will screw into a Luer lock syringe? Similar to the way a Luer lock needle is? Or are they for slip tip only? This is what has been throwing me off.?
