Product is too hard
From VirginiaComments about Ocu-GLOThe product was too hard! My dog took the gel capsules just fine but this product was too hard for her even when I broke it into for her. Since I did not know this until I opened it, I do not have an option to return it. Even after I cut the product in quarters, my small dog could not chew the pieces. I don't know what I can do with them now. A lot of money gone. -

Q & A
-
explain to me what are liquid snip packs and how are they administered??
-
Chiebe, The snip caps are capsules that can be broken apart and poured over pets food. It allows for an easier method of giving the medication to your pet if they won't swallow pills. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I just read that I should be giving the vitamin twice a day. I have been giving both at once for 4 months. What is the difference? Thank you?
-
Determining the optimal dose and frequency of dosing of Ocu-GLO Rx should first be determined with the assistance of your pet’s veterinarian. He or she will be able to help you decide which vitamins, minerals, and supplements your pet needs following a dietary and clinical evaluation. If you are to administer more than 1 Ocu-glo Gelcap per day, the manufacturer states that the dose can be given all at once, or divided throughout the day. Dividing doses throughout the day may help with pets that will not take 2 doses at once, because it is generally easier to mask 1 versus 2 Gelcaps in meals or snacks. Planning doses of Ocu-GLO Rx with meals and snacks may improve absorption of some of the ingredients as well. Thank you, VetRxDirect

My poodle is 15 years old and weighs 12 pounds. If I use the snip capsules, how many should i give her a day??
-
Ocu-GLO snip capsules are only indicated for dogs 10 lbs. and under (small dogs), per the manufacturer. For dogs 11 lbs. and over (medium and large dogs), only the gelcaps are available. One gelcap for medium and large dogs does not have the same amount of all vitamins and antioxidants as two snip caps and the other ingredients differ as well. For instance, the snip capsules contain beef flavoring to make them taste better. Your pet’s vitamin and antioxidant need may also vary based upon any deficiencies or diagnosed diseases. Since Ocu-GLO is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any diseases, we recommend informing or following-up with your pet’s veterinarian first to determine your pet’s nutritional or eye care needs. He or she will be able to help you make the best decision for your pet. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Would this help a dog w SARD??
-
Ocu-Glo was developed by two veterinary ophthalmologists, one of whom also has a PhD in molecular biology. Ocu-Glo is a blend of 12 anti-oxidants that cover a variety of pathways that cause oxidative stress in the eye. Per the manufacturer, data on Ocu-Glo is still limited and there is no specific data on its use in sudden acquired retinal degeneration (SARDS), but it was developed with degenerative eye diseases such as SARDS and progressive retinal atrophy (PRA) in mind; while there is no proven treatment for diseases of this kind, preventing oxidative stress is thought to potentially slow the progression. Per the manufacturer, it is recommended to consult with a veterinary ophthalmologist before starting Ocu-Glo or any product specific for occular support. Thank you, VetRxDirect

This is the second time trying Ocu-Glo RX for my ShihTzu , she is pretty small and I find it very difficult to get this large capsule down her throat. Do you have any suggestions to make it easier???
-
You can try to hide the capsule in a treat or food and see if she would take that, otherwise we do have the capsules for small dogs which is about half the size of the large capsule, or we have a snip cap which can be opened and poured over food. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Is a 13.5 lb Shih to u considered medium size??
-
Yes, the small Ocu-Glo is for pets 10 pounds and under and the medium/large Ocu-Glo would be for pets over 10 pounds. Thank you, VetRxDirect

-
what is the exact size of the capsule? thx?
-
Rupert, It depends on which size you need. The medium/large dog capsule is about the size of a fish oil supplement. It is long and skinny. The small dog capsule is about half the size, about the size of a pencil eraser. If you think your pet will not be able to swallow the capsule, we do have a snip cap which is able to be opened and put over food. Hopefully this helps answer your question. Thank you, VetRxDirect
