I am debating between purchasing the Ocu-Glo gelcaps versus the snip caps. It would be easier for me to put the supplement directly into food instead of wrapping it in something else. What is the taste like from the snip caps? Is it liver flavored?

Irene, Ocu-Glo was developed to be used in dogs as a vision supplement to slow the degradation of the retina found in the eye. The manufacturer recommends the use of Ocu-GLO if your pet shows the following symptoms; diminished vision at night or in dim conditions, diminished vision at all times, cloudy appearance to eyes, pupils that do not constrict, and obvious cataracts. It can help prevent or slow progression but cannot reverse any type of eye damage. Ocu-Glo can safely be given with other supplements that DO NOT contain additional Grapeseed extract or Vitamin E. Also, excessive Omega-3-fatty acid may cause diarrhea. We recommend checking with your veterinarian first to confirm if your dog has cataracts and to check for any duplication of ingredients between the supplements you currently have your dog on and Ocu-Glo. Are the gel cps the same size for the small vs the med-large?

If the size of the small capsules is a concern, there are also snip capsules, which are designed to be opened and the contents poured out over your dog's food. The contents of the capsule can stain fabrics and fur, so be cautious when opening. If you have a smaller dog who has trouble with the size of the medium/large capsules, the strength of the small capsules is about half, so a dog weighing 11-30 pounds could receive 1 medium/large capsule or 2 small capsules each day. Our dog is 18-20 lbs. We received the vision supplement for small dogs. Should we give him 1 per day? I will change our order next time for med/large dogs.

Ocu-Glo Can Make A Real Difference !!!

My12 year old Cairn Terrier Maggie started losing her vision suddenly in October 2013. I took her to an eye specialist who recommended Ocu-Glo after diagnosing her with SARDS (sudden aquired retina deterioration). The Ocu-Glo seemed to help slow the deterioration in her vision within a matter of days. Today in March of 2015 although Maggie is almost completely blind she still has some light perception most days. She has adapted, has a terrific attitude and is loaded with spunk. Once I forgot to order a replacement bottle in time and Maggie ran out before the new supply arrived. I could see the difference in her within two days as she stumbled around. When she got back on the med six days later she navigated her way around with great improvement! I will never let her run out again! My furry baby deserves the best as she has given back 10 fold in love all of her life. She motivates the entire family with her can do attitude and spirit. Go Maggie! our 11 yr old Springer Spaniel was dx with SARDS and the specialist recommended we give this a try. We know that she will lose her vision completely and don't really know if this has slowed down the progress but it's one of those things of "what if I didn't give it to her, would it have prolonged her vision" situation. We hide it in a large piece of "cheap" hot dog so she doesn't really take time to give it a good "chomp" before it's down. It has a horrible smell once punctured tho! We shall see at our follow up with the specialist at our next visit as to how the loss of vision has progressed. Our difficult situation is that she is also deaf....

The product was too hard! My dog took the gel capsules just fine but this product was too hard for her even when I broke it into for her. Since I did not know this until I opened it, I do not have an option to return it. Even after I cut the product in quarters, my small dog could not chew the pieces. I don't know what I can do with them now. A lot of money gone.

I am debating between purchasing the Ocu-Glo gelcaps versus the snip caps. It would be easier for me to put the supplement directly into food instead of wrapping it in something else. What is the taste like from the snip caps? Is it liver flavored??

- Ocu-GLO is a supplement containing many vitamins and antioxidants that may help slow down the progression of degenerative eye diseases like glaucoma, cataracts and many others. We understand the difficulty of giving your dog capsules, as some just aren’t as receptive. The snip caps may be a good option in this case and it is flavored with beef and liver. Hi, I'm suspecting my dog have cataract but not so sure. Can Ocu-glo be use as a preventive measure, like a supplement? I also give my dog multi-vitamins and omega 3, can Ocu-glo be use with the other vitamin supplements? Thanks.?

- Irene, Ocu-Glo was developed to be used in dogs as a vision supplement to slow the degradation of the retina found in the eye. The manufacturer recommends the use of Ocu-GLO if your pet shows the following symptoms; diminished vision at night or in dim conditions, diminished vision at all times, cloudy appearance to eyes, pupils that do not constrict, and obvious cataracts. It can help prevent or slow progression but cannot reverse any type of eye damage. Ocu-Glo can safely be given with other supplements that DO NOT contain additional Grapeseed extract or Vitamin E. Also, excessive Omega-3-fatty acid may cause diarrhea. We recommend checking with your veterinarian first to confirm if your dog has cataracts and to check for any duplication of ingredients between the supplements you currently have your dog on and Ocu-Glo. - Nessie, Ocu-Glo vision supplement comes in the form of a Gelcap which is liver-flavored both inside and outside. The product may be given with or without food. The manufacturer states that most dogs do not have any hesitation or problems with taking these GelCaps without food, but some dogs may be more picky. Hello! My 11 year old Lhasa Apso has chronic dry eye and it's very difficult for me to clean her eyes out or to put drops in them. Would Ocu-Glo possible help with her dry eye??

This supplement may help improve dry eye symptoms in cats and dogs but there are no studies supporting this claim. The manufacturer recommends giving 1 small size capsule daily for animals under 10 pounds, 1 med/large size capsule daily for a weight between 11 and 30 pounds, 2 med/large size capsules daily for 31 to 60 pounds, and 3 med/large size capsules daily for 61 to 100 pounds. If your pet’s symptoms do not improve or get worse, please follow up with your dog’s veterinarian. Are the gel cps the same size for the small vs the med-large??

- Jayden, The small size Ocu-GLO Rx capsules are about half the size of the medium/large capsules. If the size of the small capsules is a concern, there are also snip capsules, which are designed to be opened and the contents poured out over your dog's food. The contents of the capsule can stain fabrics and fur, so be cautious when opening. If you have a smaller dog who has trouble with the size of the medium/large capsules, the strength of the small capsules is about half, so a dog weighing 11-30 pounds could receive 1 medium/large capsule or 2 small capsules each day. There are no reported side effects from the manufacturer. It is advised to discontinue use of Ocu-GLO Rx one week prior to surgery. There is a potential increase risk of bleeding due to the grape seed extract and omega 3 fatty acids found in the supplement. Pregnant or lactating animals should not be given Ocu-GLO Rx, as some of the ingredients have not been tested in these animals.The manufacturer recommends for the capsule to be swallowed whole due to potential staining from the liquid contents inside the capsule. - The manufacturer recommends that dogs in the 11-30 pound range receive one of the medium/large gel caps daily. According to the ingredient breakdown, it looks like the small gel caps have approximately half the strength of each ingredient, so two small gel caps should equal approximately the same strength as one of the medium/large gel caps. Something to consider when ordering Ocu-Glo Rx is that the small gel caps are about half the size of the medium/large, and some small dogs have difficulty with the increased size of the the larger caps.
